China originated in the "Native Soil" and grew up in the "Native Soil".The"Native Soil Society" has always been the foundation of China’s development.In 2017,the proposal of the "Rural Revitalization Strategy "once again aroused people’s attention to China’s rural society.For a while,"recalling nostalgia " and "seeking cultural roots" were widely discussed by all walks of life.In such a social background,as one of the important media of rural communication,rural documentaries also showed discourse characteristics adapted to the needs of the development of the times.Discourse analysis is an important channel to reveal the intention of text creation and explore the value of text creation.This paper focuses on the discourse characteristics and discourse strategies of China’s rural documentaries under the background of the " Rural Revitalization Strategy",and selects two representative poverty alleviation documentaries representing the state’s political and non-state stances,Promise and Beyond the Mountains to compare discourses the study.Based on Norman Fairclough’s three-dimensional critical discourse analysis model,combined with the relevant theories of Van Dick’s news discourse analysis framework,from "Text Analysis",and "Discourse Practice Analysis" two aspects systematically discuss the similarities and differences in the discourse operation of the two documentaries in textual meaning(emotion,metaphor and social meaning)construction,intertextuality(text production:quotation and style analysis;text distribution and consumption),and through the third level:"Social Practice Analysis "explores the interaction between the discourse expressions of the two documentaries and the social context factors in which they are located,so as to try to provide creative directions and discourse strategies for reference for the future China’s rural documentaries more effectively undertake the arduous task of rural communicationThe study found that the two poverty alleviation documentaries based on the same era background,the same theme but different standpoints have many differences in the discourse feature and discourse function of the text.This is caused by the different creative contexts of this,which reflects the role of social context in constructing documentary discourse.Reaching the same goal by different routes,finally,the two documentaries realized using different discourse strategies to establish a positive image of grassroots poverty alleviation cadres,construct an equal interactive relationship between the government and the masses,and promote mainstream values of poverty alleviation spirit.This is the constructive effect of the documentary on the society,from which the dual constructive relationship between documentary discourse and social context is revealed.
