| As characteristic Confucius Institutes,the establishment of Chinese Medicine Confucius Institutes is significant.It is not only an important platform for spreading Chinese culture and language,but also an important way to carry traditional Chinese culture to the world.By introducing the general situation of the development of Chinese Medicine Confucius Institutes,this paper makes a comparative analysis of the institutes from the aspects of Chinese language teaching,Chinese Medicine teaching,cultural promotions and characteristic programs,and is committed to exploring the problems existing in the development of theses institutes and offering corresponding countermeasures,thus completing the three-step discussion from representation to problems and then to countermeasures.The paper emphasizes the comparison between institutes,integrates and classifies the collected information of Chinese Medicine Confucius Institutes,and discusses the measures that can be taken in the development and construction of Chinese Medicine Confucius Institutes.First of all,this study combines literature method and interview method to obtain primary information as much as possible.Secondly,through the comparative analysis of the specific aspects of these institutes,the commonness and characteristics are analyzed.In general,in terms of Chinese teaching,some institutes lack of unified teaching materials and Chinese medicine language courses,and their division of students’ language level is not clear.In terms of Chinese medicine teaching,there exists obvious language barrier and the imbalance of the courses.In addition,there is no uniform overseas Chinese medicine teaching materials.In terms of cultural promotions,quite a few institutes have a weak awareness of creating signboard cultural activities,and the types of cultural activities are concentrated.In terms of characteristic programs,they have a weak awareness of creating characteristic programs,the institutes’ role as a “bridge” in industrial communication is not fully played,and the potential students are not actively explored.Affected by COVID-19,these institutes have faced funding shortfalls,and their teaching and cultural activities have been further cut back.As for the countermeasures to improve the development of Chinese Medicine Confucius Institutes,this study suggests the institutes consolidate Chinese teaching by strengthening the construction of teaching staff,choosing teaching materials and dividing students’ Chinese level.In the meanwhile,the institutes should strengthen the construction of “Chinese + Chinese medicine” compound teaching group,boost the compilation of overseas Chinese medicine teaching materials,and enhance the linkage between language courses and Chinese medicine courses.Also,the Confucius Institutes are advised to establish the image of Chinese medicine by creating signboard cultural activities,expand the types of cultural activities,build the reputation of the institutes through characteristic programs,industrial exchange and tapping potential students.In the context of COVID-19,the institutes should open up new sources of school funding and adjust its operation mode.In addition,the universities in China should keep pace with the internationalization of education,attach great importance to inter-school cooperation,and all the provinces should rationally utilize its resources of Chinese medicine and advance the internationalization of Chinese medicine culture based on their own economic and cultural development. |
