Analysis Of Status Quo And Influencing Factors Of Triage Decision-making Ability Of Emergency Nurses

Objective: Through the investigation of emergency nurses from 11 tertiary hospitals in the North,this study aims to understand the current status of emergency nurses ’ triage decision-making ability and analyze the influencing factors of emergency nurses ’ triage decision-making ability,providing a reference for the construction of personalized nursing intervention program for emergency triage nurses,reducing the crowding of the emergency department,developing the quality of triage to ensure the safety of patients.Method:Cross-sectional study,371 emergency nurses from 11 hospitals were sequential chosen for the study using convenience sampling.Research tools used The Triage Decision Making inventory and a self-designed general information questionnaire to conduct a questionnaire survey on the subjects.One hospital out of the 11 that were examined used a paper-based questionnaire survey.Other hospitals employed the website to gather information.SPSS26.0 software was used for data entry and analysis.The triage decision-making ability of emergency nurses was statistically described by mean ±standard deviation.The qualitative data in the general data are statistically described by frequency and composition ratio.Univariate analysis(independent sample t test)and multivariate analysis(multiple linear regression)were used to analyze the influencing factors of emergency nurses triage decision-making ability.The score of emergency triage decision-making ability was taken as the dependent variable,and P< 0.2 in oneway ANOVA was taken as the independent variable to analyze the influencing factors of emergency nurses ’ triage decision-making ability by multiple linear regression equation.P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant.Result: The total TDMI score of emergency nurses is 166.50±26.90,regarding as low level.The scores for the cognitive characteristics dimension,experience dimension,intuitive dimension,and critical thinking dimension were 36.92 ± 6.40,47.95 ±7.66,30.11 ± 5.87,and 51.52 ± 8.79 respectively.Through multiple linear regression analysis,it was concluded that gender(β=11.30,P=0.003),case discussion(β=2.32,P=0.024),understanding of consensus(β=6.12,P=0.027),and secondary evaluation(β=6.12,P=0.027)significantly affected the score of emergency nurses ’ triage decision-making ability.Conclusion: The triage decision ability of emergency nurses in tertiary hospitals is still at a low level.In addition,gender,case discussion,secondary evaluation during triage,and familiarity with triage consensus are independent influencing factors of triage decision-making ability.In the future,a triage nursing training program should be constructed based on the influencing factors of this study to improve the quality of triage decision-making of emergency nurses,so as to ensure that critically ill Patients receive Priority treatment.
