Objective: This study aims to test the reliability and validity of the Chinese Traditional edition of the Emergency Critically Ill Patient Bed Demand Scale, and to use this scale to understand the current status of the needs of families of emergency critically ill patients and analyze its influencing factors,in order to provide a theoretical basis for emergency clinical nursing practice and nursing management. Methods: This study was divided into two phases, the first stage was to revise the Chinese Traditional version of the emergency critically ill patient waiting bed family demand scale, and the second stage was the current situation survey to understand the needs of the families of emergency critically ill patients and analyze its influencing factors. The first stage: through expert consultation and pre-investigation,the Chinese Traditional version of the emergency critically ill patient waiting bed family needs scale was revised to form the emergency critically ill patient family needs initialization scale. At this stage,a convenience sampling method was used to continuously select 258 family members of critically ill patients in the emergency department for formal investigation.Cronbach’s α coefficient was used to assess internal consistency; The content validity was based on the CVI index method;Exploratory factor analysis was used to evaluate the structural validity, and finally the family demand scale of emergency critically ill patients was formed. The second stage: the research tool adopts the general data questionnaire and the family demand scale of emergency critically ill patients, and in this stage, the convenience sampling method is used to continuously select 297 family members of emergency critically ill patients to investigate the current situation of family needs of emergency critically ill patients, and univariate analysis multiple linear regression analysis is used to explore the influencing factors of the needs of families of emergency critically ill patients. Results: 1.This study completed the revision of the scale of needs of family members of emergency critically ill patients, which included 4 dimensions and 36 items, including communication with family members of patients(9 items),participation of family members in emergency care(12 items),comfort(6 items)and support(9 items).Likert4 grading method(1 = not important,2 = somewhat important,3 = important,4 = very important)is adopted. The total score is 36~144 points. The higher the score is,the higher the number and importance of demands. The content validity of the scale was0.92,the total Cronbach’s α coefficient was 0.867,and each dimension ranged from0.732 to 0.819.2.Analysis results of the current situation and influencing factors of the needs of family members of emergency critically ill patients: The total score of the needs of family members of emergency critically ill patients was 109.24±9.81 points, the highest score was communication with family members of patients, and the lowest score was comfort. The highest score was "I am kept informed of the patient’s progress" and the lowest was "I am encouraged to express my emotions".Univariate analysis showed that there were differences in age, place of residence, monthly income per capita in the family, triage level and hospitalization times,as well as different demand levels of family members of emergency critically ill patients, with statistical significance(P<0.05).The results of multivariate analysis showed that age, residence, per capita monthly family income and triage level entered the multiple linear regression equation(P<0.05).Conclusions: 1.The revised scale of family needs of emergency patients with critical illness has good reliability and validity, and can be used as an assessment tool of family needs of emergency patients with critical illness.2.The demand level of family members of emergency critically ill patients is at a relatively high level, and the influencing factors are age, residence, per capita monthly family income and triage level. It is suggested that nursing managers and nursing workers should pay attention to the needs of family members of emergency patients with critical illness, develop more reasonable procedures and management measures to meet the needs of family members of patients and improve the quality of emergency nursing. |
