Objective: To explore the correlation between type D personality(TDP)and primary narrow angle(PNA)and primary angle-closure glaucoma(PACG).Methods: A case-control study was conducted, with 134 patients suffering from PNA and 55 with age-related cataracts with normal anterior chamber depth being the control group, all treated in the Department of Ophthalmology at the First Affiliated Hospital of China Medical University, between June and October 2021.The case group included 58 patients with PACG and 76 patients with simple shallow anterior chamber. The demographic characteristics of the patients were collected through questionnaires.Examinations of the eye included the best corrected visual acuity, intraocular pressure(IOP),visual field, slit lamp, ultrasound biomicroscopy, and fundus examination. All participants were evaluated using a 14-item type D personality scale,self-rating anxiety scale, and self-rating depression scale.Logistic regression model was used to perform 1∶1 propensity score matching on the baseline data of demographic characteristics. The incidences of the two groups were compared between IOP,TDP,anxiety and depression.A Logistic regression analysis of multivariate nature was conducted, and the Receiver Operating Characteristics(ROC)curve was employed to assess the influence of influencing factors on the forecasting of PNA and PACG.Results: 1 、 The case group’s TDP patients accounted for 51.5% before matching,a significantly higher proportion than the control group’s 10.9%(P < 0.001).Univariate analysis revealed that gender, smoking, sleep quality,IOP,TDP,anxiety and depression were all associated with PNA(P < 0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that gender,IOP and TDP were risk factors for PNA(P < 0.05).2 、 After matching,The case group saw a significantly higher proportion of TDP patients(45.2%)than the control group(11.9%),as indicated by a P-value of 0.001.Univariate analysis further revealed that IOP,TDP,anxiety and depression were all associated with PNA(P< 0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that TDP was a risk factor for PNA(P = 0.011).And TDP could predict the occurrence of PNA,the area under ROC was 0.667(P = 0.009).3、Before matching,in the case group,TDP accounted for 72.4 %of PACG patients, which was significantly higher than 35.5 % of patients with simple shallow anterior chamber(P < 0.001).An univariate analysis revealed a correlation between IOP and TDP and PACG(P < 0.05).Subsequently,a multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that IOP and TDP were risk factors for PACG(P < 0.05).4、After matching,in the case group,TDP accounted for 68.8 % in PACG patients, which was significantly higher than 39.6 % in patients with simple shallow anterior chamber(P= 0.004).An univariate analysis revealed a correlation between IOP and TDP in relation to PACG(P < 0.05).Multivariate logistic regression further revealed that TDP was a risk factor for PACG(P = 0.011),and could be used to forecast the occurrence of PACG,with an area under ROC of 0.646(P = 0.014).IOP was a risk factor for PACG(P =0.001),and IOP could predict the occurrence of PACG,the area under ROC was 0.677(P = 0.003).IOP and TDP had no multiplicative interaction on the prevalence of PACG(OR = 0.223,95 % CI 0.035-1.433,P = 0.114).Conclusion: 1、TDP is a risk factor for PNA and can predict the occurrence of PNA.2、TDP is a risk factor for PACG and can predict the occurrence of PACG.
