Objective:Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of visual impairment andblindness all over the world. Although its etiology is not fully clear, psychologicalfactor is more and more attentive during clinical treatment. The emotional stress ofnegative life events of patients prior to the illness is one of the important reasons whichleads to the incidence of glaucoma. The incidence and recurrence of glaucoma arerelated with the mind and emotion. Changes of psychological factors in turn affect thetreatment of glaucoma. We summarize the evaluation of psychological characteristicsand the influence of psychosoual interventions on glaucoma patients in this review.Toinvestigate the psychological, personality, behavioral characteris-tics of patients inDalian city with primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG).Methods: Fifty-three cases of patients which diagnosed as PACG as case group,which in the department of ophthalmology in the First Affiliated Hospital of DalianMedical University from December2011to March2012,fifty-five cases were healthy asthe control group. Fifty-three cases of PACG patients and fifty-five cases of normal, useSymptom Chectlist90(SCL-90), Life Event Scale (LES),Eysenck PersonalityQuestionnaire (EPQ) and Type-A Behavior Questionnaire (TAHQ) to investigateand evaluate.Results:(1) In SCL-90, the scores of somatization,interpersonal sensitivity,depression, anxiety, hostility, phobic anxiety, paranoid ideation and psychoticism inpatients with PACG were higher than those in normal subjects (P <0.05).(2) InA-style behavior, the score of TH in patients with PACG was higher than those innormal subjects, but there was no difference between two groups in TH+CH and CH.(3)In EPQ,the score of Psychology and Nervousness in the group with PACG were highterthan that in normal.(4) In LES, the scores of family events, social intercourse and other events, life events, stress response total in patients with PACG were higher than thosein normal subjects, the difference between the two groups are significant (P <0.05).The difference between the two groups scores in learning events, economic events arenot significant.(5) Correlation analysis of social factors and personality traits andmental health: Somatization (fl) was positively correlated with the age and educationand negatively related to the family satisfaction. The sensitivity of human relationship(f3) was negatively correlated with the career and family satisfaction. Depression (f4)was positively cowelated with nervousness or emotion. Anxiety (f5) was negativelycorrelated with the family satisfaction.Conclusion: The psychological factor seems to be obviously associa-ted with theonset of PACG.The patients with PACG were mainly A-style personality, and theirpsychology and nervousness. |
