| Objective:According to the theoretical model of stress-sleep quality to investigate the current situation, and the correlations of personality traits, life skills and sleep quality of adolescents with adverse childhood experiences(ACEs)in Hunan Province, and to explore the mediating role of life skills in the relationship between personality traits and sleep quality in adolescents with ACEs.Methods:294 middle school students with ACEs were selected from 400 middle school students in 12 classes under 4 middle schools affiliated to Changsha County of Changsha City and Cili County of Zhangjiajie City in Hunan Province were investigated by multi-stage stratified random sampling method.Under the guidance of the theoretical framework of stress-sleep quality, middle school students were measured by self-designed general information questionnaire,Adverse Childhood Experience International Questionnaire(ACE-IQ),Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ),the Secondary School Student Life Skills Rating Scale(SSS-LSRS)and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI).The data were analyzed in SPSS 26.0 and Amos 24.0 software. The statistical analysis methods mainly include descriptive statistics,t-test,χ~2-test,Spearman correlation analysis, binary logistic regression analysis and structural equation model.Results:(1)The overall scores of extraversion, neuroticism, psychoticism, life skills and sleep quality of adolescents with ACEs in Hunan Province were 10.86±4.59,12.81±5.83,5.00±2.96,25.49±7.63 and 6.67±3.58,respectively.Which were worse than that in Chinese norm.(2)Univariate analysis showed that the extroversion personality of adolescents with ACEs was affected by the number of ACEs,main caregivers, caregivers’ occupation, caregiver educational level and caregivers’ health status.Neuroticism was related to gender, the number of ACEs and caregivers’ health status, and psychoticism was affected by the number of ACEs and caregivers’ health status;life skills were affected by the number of ACEs and the health status of caregivers;sleep quality was related to gender and the number of ACEs.(3)Correlation analysis showed that the sleep quality of adolescents with ACEs was significantly negatively correlated with the extraversion and life skills(r=-0.23,-0.28;P<0.01),and positively correlated with neuroticism and psychoticism(r=0.52,0.18;P<0.01);life skills were positively correlated with extraversion(r=0.49;P<0.01),and negatively correlated with neuroticism and psychoticism(r=-0.18,-0.13;P<0.05).(4)Multivariate analysis showed that the sleep quality of adolescents with ACEs was affected by neuroticism(β=0.23,P<0.01),life skills(β=-0.08,P<0.01).(5)Mediation analysis showed that life skills partially mediated the relationship between neuroticism and sleep quality(β=0.02,P<0.05),and completely mediated the relationship between extraversion and sleep quality of adolescents with ACEs(β=-0.07,P<0.05)。Conclusion:(1)The vast majority of adolescents with ACEs in Hunan Province have experienced three or more adverse childhood experiences, and their sleep quality, life skills and personality characteristics are bad, which are worse than the Chinese norm.(2)The sleep quality of adolescents with ACEs in Hunan Province is closely related to personality traits and life skills;life skills are closely related to personality traits.(3)The sleep quality of adolescents with ACEs in Hunan Province is affected by neuroticism and life skills.Neuroticism is the risk factor of sleep quality in adolescents with ACEs,and life skills are the protective factor of adolescents’ sleep quality.(4)Life skills can not only partially mediate the relationship between neuroticism and sleep quality, but also completely mediate the relationship between extraversion and sleep quality of adolescents with ACEs,as a modifitable and protective factor, which can provide a theoretical basis for the formulation of intervention measures to promote sleep health of adolescents with ACEs in the future. |
