Lower Mekong Region(LMR)connects China,Southeast Asia and South Asia.The location of the LMR is very important.However,countries in the region have different levels of economic development,among which Cambodia and Myanmar are particularly backward in economic development and are still among the 46 underdeveloped countries in the United Nations.At the same time,the region is located in the tropics and subtropics and is highly infectious.Therefore,the above reasons lead to the basic situation of backward health infrastructure,insufficient medical supplies and rampant infectious diseases in the whole Lower Mekong Region.During the Cold War,in order to win the hearts of the people in the Lower Mekong Region,the United States provided a large amount of health development assistance to the region.After the Cold War,the support of the United States to the medical treatment and development of the Lower Mekong Region,as well as the support of the United States to the medical treatment and development of the region,have led to the continuous change of the support of the United States to the medical treatment and development of the region.This paper focuses on the analysis of the policies and practices of U.S.government and non-government assistance to the Lower Mekong Region during the Obama administration,summarizes and analyzes the characteristics of the practices,and evaluates the effectiveness of their health development assistance.This paper is divided into four parts.The first part reviews the changes of the United States’ health development assistance to the LMR during the Clinton administration and the Bush administration since the end of the Cold War.On this basis,the paper analyzes the motivation of increasing health development assistance to the LMR during the Obama administration.The second part examines the aid mechanism of health development assistance during the Obama administration.The single and comprehensive aid programs of the United States to the LMR are analyzed.The third part summarizes the characteristics of the United States health development assistance during the Obama administration and evaluates the achievements of the health development assistance.The fourth part briefly analyzes the situation of China’s health development assistance and provides the author’s views on the aspects worthy of China’s reference. |
