Family is a crucial environment for children’s development. As one of the variables of family environment, family socioeconomic status has a significant impact on children’s mental health. However,at present, there are relatively few studies on the mediating mechanism and group differences between family socioeconomic status and children’s mental health.Based on the 2014-2015 academic year data from the China Education Tracking Survey(CEPS),this paper uses structural equation model analysis to specifically explore the path mechanism of family socioeconomic status affecting children’s mental health. This paper empirically studies whether there are group differences in the influence of family socioeconomic status on children’s mental health by using multi-group analysis,so as to strengthen the understanding of family socioeconomic status and its influence, and enrich the empirical research on the relationship between family socioeconomic status and children’s mental health in academic circles.First, describe and analyze the distribution and difference of family socioeconomic status and children’s mental health, and use multiple regression to conduct a preliminary analysis. The research finds that there are differences in the distribution of family socioeconomic status between ethnic groups and urban and rural areas; There is a gender difference in family income and parental professional status index, while there is no significant difference between parental education years and gender;Children’s mental health is influenced by multiple factors such as individuals and families, and there are differences between gender, ethnicity, and urban and rural areas.Secondly, analyze the effect of family socioeconomic status path mechanism of children’s mental health, the study found that: 1.Family socioeconomic status has no significant direct impact on children’s mental health, and it affects children’s mental health entirely through family relations, parental expectations, parental participation, and children’s self expectations.2.Among the four indirect paths, children’s self expectation is the main path that family socioeconomic status affects children’s mental health.3.The increase in parental participation has a negative impact on children’s mental health.4.The direct effect of parental expectation on children’s mental health is negative, the indirect effect is positive and greater than the direct effect, and the total effect is positive.Thirdly,it discusses whether the impact of family socioeconomic status on children’s mental health is heterogeneous. The study finds that there are group differences in the impact of family socioeconomic status on children’s mental health, and some paths in the structural model have obvious gender, ethnic, urban and rural differences. Finally, summarize the main findings of this study, discuss and propose research prospects.
