Objective:To explore the relationship between the children growth and the socioeconomic of parents(including parents’ income, occupation and education level), and to provide scientific basis to promote the healthy growth of children.Methods: Cluster sampling method was used in this study. Two kidding garden was random selected, one is at urban, another is at rural. All the children aged 0~6 years whose studied at there were selected. The basic information of Children’s, and their family situation( including parents’ occupation, education level and income, etc) were collected by questionnaire. Children’s height, weight and hemoglobin were measured accurately. Parents’ income, educational level and occupation were assigned points, social and economic status appoints were calculate by adding parents’ all scores, and then it were divided into low, medium and high level. Chi-square test, single factor analysis and multivariable Logistic regression analysis method were used by IBM SPSS Statistic software.Result: 452 questionnaires were distributed and 402 effective were collected, the effective rate of recovery of questionnaire is 88.9%. The most questionnaires were answered by children’s parents, and a few questionnaires were answered by their grandparents. 166 Children under the age of 2 and 220 2~5 years old children were investigated. 40 children were wasting which accounted for 23.1% and 35 children were overweight which account for 21.1% in group under age 2, 48 children were wasting which accounted for 21.8% and 41 children were overweight which account for 18.6% in group2~5years old.No significant difference was found between diference gender of children’s wasting rate.(P=0.500). The wasting rate was significant difference beween urban children and rural children(P<0.05) and the same results was found among difference feeding pattern(P<0.05). The children’ s wasting rate were significantly low and overweight rate were significantly high in high income family(P<0.05)and the overweight rate were significantly high in low educational level family(P<0.05).In under 2 years old group, children’s height showed significant positive correlation with parents’ height in( P < 0.05); in 2~6 years old group, children’s height showed significant positive correlation with mothers’ height, birth height and SES, children’s weight were positively correlated with birth weight and SES.The multi factor analysis results showed that the children with low SES had significantly higher wasting rate compared with high SES children.Conclusion: The social economic status is the influence factor of children’s growth and development. Low social economic status are bad for children’s growth and increases the wasting rate and anemia incidence, however high social economic status induces children’s overweight and obesity rate increasing.
