Objective:It’s still unknown about the prevalence and associated factors of the psychological health status among medical staffs who went through the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.This study has two purposes:firstly,through a systematic literature review,to explore the mental health characteristics and influencing factors of medical staff under the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic,and to find out the prevention and treatment of these psychological health problems.Secondly,a survey among the medical staffs in Kashi,Xinjiang,China,who went through the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic,was conducted to analyze the prevalence of depression,anxiety acute stress and insomnia symptoms and to find out the related factors of these symptoms.Methods:The first part is systematic literature review and analysis.Three groups of keywords both in Chinese and English as(novel coronavirus pneumonia OR novel coronavirus OR novel coronavirus OR novel coronavirus OR novel coronavirus),(doctor OR nurse OR medical staff OR medical workers OR medical care)and(psychological OR depression OR anxiety OR stress OR crisis OR insomnia or Sleep disorders)about articles on the relationship between the novel coronavirus pneumonia and the mental health of medical professionals were retrieved from CNKI,WANFANG DATA,PubMed and Embase databases,and the retrieved literatures were retrospectively analyzed and summarized.In the second part a cross-sectional online survey was conducted among medical staffs working in Kashi,Xinjiang.The questionnaire collected demographic data and self-design questions which is about the COVID-19 pandemic.The Impact of Events Scale-6,the Perceived Social Support Scale,the Insomnia Severity Index,the Patient Health Questionnaire-9,the Trait Coping Style Questionnaire,the Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale-7 and the Chinese Big Five Personality Inventory-15 were used to measure psychological symptoms or characteristics.Binary logistic regression was carried out to examine the associations between socio-demographic factors and symptoms of depression,anxiety,acute stress and insomnia.Results:The results of the first part of the study show that medical staffs have significant psychological problems such as anxiety,job burnout,sleep,depression and stress under the novel coronavirus pandemic.Multiple factors will affect the psychological health status of medical staffs.In view of the psychological problems of medical staff under the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic,interventions such as mindfulness-based stress reduction therapy,narrative nursing,group or individual psychological intervention,music therapy,physical therapy or physical exercise,traditional Chinese medicine therapy and transcranial repeated magnetic stimulation therapy are helpful to improve their physical and mental health.In the second part of the study,totally 123 participants were recruited and eligible for final analyse.The prevalence of depression,anxiety,acute stress and insomnia symptoms is 60.2%,49.6%,43.1%and 41.1%,respectively.The regression model revealed that psychological health symptoms were positively associated with minority ethnicity,being worried about infection,spending more time on searching pandemic information and neurotic personality,while extraversion personality,better social support and higher education level were found to be negatively associated.Conclusion:It is necessary and effective to clarify the characteristics and needs of the psychological crisis of medical staff during the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic.It’s also important to carry out comprehensive psychological intervention such as planned,hierarchical,professional and systematic intervention at an early stage to promote the physical as well as the psychological health of medical staff,to improve their work efficiency and quality,and to improve the ability of epidemic prevention,control and treatment.Among medical workers experiencing the second wave of the pandemic in Kashgar,a higher proportion of mental health problems found.Several factors were found to be related to psychological health status.The findings may help to identify those medical staffs who are at risk of psychological health problems and would be helpful for making further policies for psychological health intervention during the pandemic resurgence.Our study may also provide more evidence for preventing medical workers from mental health problems during pandemic in future.
