Grassland rodent pest management plays an important role in grassland management. When the rodent pest reaches the level of damage,i.e.,when it has a destructive effect on the ecological balance, prevention and control must be carried out,and reasonable prevention and control can promote the restoration and reconstruction of the ecological balance. The common rodent control methods are biological control, chemical control and physical control, among which chemical control means are most widely used. The current rodenticides have a killing effect on most rodents.Once these drugs are administered, rodents in the same domain will usually be killed, and other non-target animals will also be killed. But not all rodents are pests, and many play important roles in the ecosystem. Therefore, improving the accuracy of chemical control and reducing the damage of non-target animals is an urgent problem facing grassland rodent control in China. However, grassland rodent control in China is faced with the embarrassing situation of no drugs available. In this context,it is a good choice to achieve accurate rodent control by using limited drug species starting from the carrier of drugs-basebait.In this study, the main rodent species Lasiopodomys brandtii was used as the target of prevention and control, and a new type of bait was developed to control Lasiopodomys brandtii to achieve the effect of "specific rodent treatment and precise control".In this study, the best bait formulation for Brandtii control was selected by calculating the feeding rate and feeding coefficient based on the clarification of Brandtii’s feeding habits and mutual verification through indoor buffet experiments and selective experiments, and the effectiveness of the bait was evaluated by the feeding rate and feeding ratio through simulated machine dispersal in the field. In the laboratory,we used blackline hamster(Cricetulus barabensis),Phodopus campbelli,Gallus domestiaus and Columba livia domestica as non-target animals by calculating the feeding rate of the best basebait and control bait feeding experiments The targeting properties of the new bait were verified. The results of the study showed that:(1)Through the screening of eight baits, the best formulation of the bait for vole extermination under both laboratory and field conditions was 80% onion +20% needlegrass.(2)The best formulation with rodenticide was greater than wheat bait in laboratory conditions in terms of feeding coefficient;in the field environment, the feeding rate and feeding rate were greater than those of non-toxic wheat bait and wheat bait with or without rodenticide.(3)In the experiment on non-target animals: the non-target rodents with the same domain distribution: blackline hamster(Cricetulus barabensis)and Campbell’s desert hamstere(Phodopus campbelli)had lower feeding rate on the best formulation;the Gallus domestiaus and Columba livia These results indicate that the base bait of 80% multi root onion + 20% needlegrass is a good target for killing Brandt’s vole.
