Effects Of Different Pruning Techniques On Growth And Fruit Quality Of Peach Trees In Summer

The pruning of peach trees is an important part of production management,and it is very important to carry out technical pruning.Peach trees have the characteristics of strong germination and fast branching.Without pruning,the ventilation and light transmission conditions of peach trees will directly deteriorate,resulting in low fruit quality and low yield.Therefore,reasonable and timely pruning is particularly important in production.Choosing the correct pruning method and period is also the main content of scientific research workers.In this experiment,8-year-old’Pengxian No.13’peach planted by Hebei Yaluan Bay Agricultural Development Co.,Ltd.was used as the research object.Five different summer pruning methods(pinching,cutting,taking branches,pulling branches,spraying growth retardants)were set up to determine the effects of each treatment on tree growth,branch volume,branch nutrients,flower bud morphology and fruit quality.The results showed that:1.Summer pruning treatment can significantly reduce the amount of branches and significantly increase the proportion of middle branches.2.These five summer pruning methods can increase the soluble protein and soluble sugar content of peach branches.Nutrient content is higher about 25 cm and35 cm pinching treatment,heavy pruning in early and middle July,branch picking treatment,90°branch pulling treatment and spraying growth retardant treatment.3.These five summer pruning methods can increase the fresh weight and volume of flower buds.With the increase of the transverse diameter of flower buds,the fresh weight and volume of flower buds increase.Among them,the better plumpness is about 15 cm and 25 cm.The pinching treatment,the heavy pruning and branch picking treatment in the first and middle of June,the branch pulling treatment around90°and the spraying growth retardant treatment.4.These five summer pruning methods can increase the fruit weight and soluble solids content,but have no significant effect on fruit shape index and coloring degree.With the delay of treatment time and the aggravation of treatment degree,the single fruit weight decreased.Among them,the fruit quality is better about 15 cm pinching treatment,heavy pruning in early and middle June,branch picking treatment,90°～120°branch pulling treatment and spraying growth retardant treatment.5.Among the five summer pruning treatments,spraying growth retardants is the most labor-saving,with an average of 0.2 per 667 m~2.The most labor-saving physical pruning treatment is heavy pruning treatment,with an average of 0.65 per 667 m~2.In summary,based on the impact of summer pruning on tree growth,fruit quality,and labor consumption,the more labor-saving and effective summer pruning methods that can improve fruit quality in the local area include spraying 250 mg/L of uniconazole growth retardants,picking the continuous new shoots with fruit left at around 15 cm and 25 cm on the bearing branches,and re pruning the upright new shoots with about 50 cm in early and mid June.
