| Climate change is a problem that we all face, and the main cause of climate change are greenhouse gas emissions caused by human activity.Carbon emissions from rapidly expanding agricultural activities are unavoidable, and they have risen to become the second largest source of greenhouse gases. At present,China’s agricultural production environment is currently being put to the test, and climate change is having a significant impact on China’s ecological environment and social economy. The Yangtze River Economic Belt has achieved relatively high economic benefits as China’s main crop producing area, but the associated problems of agricultural carbon emissions have also emerged.According to relevant reports, agricultural production activities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt account for roughly one-third of total carbon emissions. Therefore,it is necessary to pay attention to the research on the efficiency of agricultural carbon emission of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.Agricultural carbon emission efficiency reflects the utilization efficiency of resources, that is,the greenhouse gas emissions caused by the production of benefits of agricultural production. In the agricultural economic system, what we pursue is to obtain higher economic benefits of the lowest possible carbon emissions. This paper begins by estimating the agricultural carbon emissions of the Yangtze River Economic Belt using relevant research from domestic and international scholars, borrowing the indicators for evaluating agricultural carbon emissions, the carbon emission coefficient of the indicators, and the emission measurement method.Agricultural carbon emissions in all provinces fluctuated, increasing slowly at first and then swiftly decreasing.Agricultural carbon emissions began to fall in all provinces about 2016,which coincided with the general changes. After obtaining the agricultural carbon emissions of the 11 provinces in the Yangtze River Economic Belt over the years,an input-output portfolio was constructed with carbon emissions as an unexpected indicator, and the DEA output-oriented VRS model was used to measure the agricultural carbon emission efficiency of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. The calculation results show that the total efficiency of agricultural carbon emissions have increased from 2010 to 2019.However,the change fluctuates greatly, and the total efficiency value is less than 1.Indicating that there is a large room for improvement on input and output in agricultural production, and the agricultural carbon emission efficiency in the downstream region is significantly higher than that in the midstream region and the upstream region. The change value of agricultural carbon emission efficiency in the Yangtze River Economic Belt was obtained using the Malmquist index decomposition method, and it was discovered that technological progress and scale efficiency improvement was the main driving forces for the improvement in agricultural carbon emission efficiency. The comprehensive FGLS method was then used to analyze the factors affecting the change in agricultural carbon emission efficiency, using the economic development level, mechanization development level, cultivated land scale, irrigation level, disaster degree, size of labor force and financial support as evaluation indicators. It shows that in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the scale of arable land, financial support, irrigation level, and mechanization development level have all inhibited the improvement of agricultural carbon emission efficiency, while the scale of arable land, financial support, irrigation level, and mechanization development level have all played a significant role in promoting agricultural carbon emission efficiency.Based on the conclusions, this paper puts forward the following suggestions.First of all,in order to improve the overall agricultural carbon emission efficiency, agricultural materials use efficiency, protective tillage mode, mechanization production level, irrigation level, risk resistance ability and high-quality labor force should be cultivated.Secondly, based on the different resource endowment and geographical characteristics of the middle and lower reaches,it is suggested that the upper reaches of the Yangtze River economic belt should develop characteristic ecological agriculture based on animal husbandry according to the characteristics of more forest, more grass and less land. The middle reaches should make full use of the abundant cultivated land resources, strengthen the function of food supplies to guarantee, and pay attention to the research and development and popularization of science and technology. The downstream areas should take advantage of their strong economic strength to concentrate on the development of efficient,high-quality,modern agriculture.Exchanges and cooperation between the upper, middle and lower reaches should be strengthened, regional resource endowment and environmental carrying capacity should be considered comprehensively, and agricultural carbon emission efficiency of the Yangtze River Economic Belt as a whole should be improved. |
