In this paper,a composite separating and sorting device consisting of a threshing device and a key separating device is designed with the aim of reducing the unthreshing rate,breakage rate and loss of fallen grains as well as improving the sieving rate during the harvesting of the Cyperus esculentus as the core of the research.The feasibility of the structure of the device was verified through ANSYS software simulation analysis.A bench test was designed and carried out,and the optimum combination of operating parameters was obtained using Design-Expert8.0.6 software;the optimum combination of operating parameters was verified through the bench test.The main research elements are as follows.(1)By analysing the material properties of the Cyperus esculentus seeds,stems and soil at harvest time,the triaxial dimensions of the Cyperus esculentusseeds,the length of the Cyperus esculentus stems,the joint strength of the Cyperus esculentus seeds,the friction coefficient of the Cyperus esculentus seeds and the moisture content of the Cyperus esculentus seeds and soil were determined to provide basic data for the design of the separation and cleaning components.(2)Based on relevant technical literature and research results on material characteristics,the overall design of the composite separating and sorting unit was developed,and the structural characteristics and working principles of the core components such as the threshing device and the key separating device were elaborated.The structural and parametric design of the separating and sorting unit was completed and a 3D model was built using Solidworks software.(3)After completing the design of the separating and sorting device,ANSYS software was applied to carry out modal analysis on the key components of the separating and sorting device of the Cyperus esculentus harvester,and the 7th to 12 th order intrinsic vibration frequencies and vibration clouds of the drum and box were obtained to verify the reasonableness and feasibility of the design of the separating and sorting device.(4)Bench tests were carried out on the threshing device and the key separator respectively,with drum speed,threshing gap and concave plate wrap angle as test factors,unthreshing rate and breakage rate as test indicators and crankshaft speed,key separator installation angle and baffle installation angle as test factors,and sieve clean rate and dropout loss rate as test indicators,to carryout single-factor tests and determine the range of orthogonal test factors.A multi-factor orthogonal test was designed and carried out,a regression equation and a response surface model were established using Design-Expert 8.0.6 software,and the optimal combination of operating parameters was derived through parameter optimisation.
