Research On The Efficiency Of Cattle & Sheep Industry And Its Influencing Factors In Ten Provinces Of South China

Since the implementation of the "Southern Modern Grassland Animal Husbandry Promotion Action" in 2014,the cattle and sheep industry in Jiangxi,Anhui,Fujian,Hunan,Hubei,Guangdong,Guangxi,Chongqing,Sichuan,Yunnan and Guizhou provinces has made great progress,the volume of cattle and sheep industry has increased rapidly,the structure of grassland animal husbandry has been continuously optimized,and the production capacity has been steadily improved.The supply of cattle and sheep products has been rising for many years.Cattle and sheep industry has gradually transformed from traditional grassland animal husbandry to modern grassland animal husbandry,which plays an important role in driving farmers to increase their income and become rich.In order to understand the changes and related factors of the efficiency of cattle and sheep industry in the ten southern provinces covered by the "Southern Modern Grassland Animal Husbandry Promotion Action",a two-stage DEA model was used in this study.Firstly,according to the input-output data of beef cattle industry in the ten southern provinces from 2010 to 2020,the static input efficiency was calculated;Secondly,with the measured efficiency as the dependent variable,the panel Tobit regression model was constructed to explore the factors affecting the efficiency of beef cattle industry in ten provinces.The results showed that from the perspective of time,the implementation of "Promotion Action" was the watershed of improving the efficiency of cattle and sheep industry in the ten southern provinces.After the implementation of "Promotion Action",the average production efficiency of cattle and sheep in each province was higher than that before the implementation,and the growth momentum was obvious.From the perspective of space,among the ten provinces,the efficiency of cattle and sheep industry in Guizhou,Yunnan and Sichuan provinces has increased the most,and the development momentum is rapid.From the perspective of dynamic efficiency decomposition,the technological progress of cattle and sheep industry is the main driving force for the efficiency growth of cattle and sheep industry in the ten southern provinces.In order to explore the specific factors affecting the efficiency of cattle and sheep industry in ten southern provinces,this paper takes the efficiency of cattle and sheep industry as the dependent variable,uses the panel Tobit model to make regression analysis on the factors affecting efficiency,such as financial support,feed resource potential,infrastructure construction,mechanization level,marketization level,scale level,human capital,and carries out likelihood ratio test(LR).The results show that the panel Tobit model with random effects is more suitable.Among them,financial support,infrastructure construction,mechanization level and scale level,human capital and other factors have a significant positive effect on the improvement of cattle and sheep industry efficiency.At the same time,it confirms the important contribution of technological progress to the efficiency improvement of beef cattle industry.In order to improve the efficiency of cattle and sheep industry in the ten southern provinces,it is necessary to increase financial investment in the development of cattle and sheep industry,improve the utilization rate of forage resources,strengthen the infrastructure construction of cattle and goat industry,improve the mechanization and standardization rate of industry,enhance the level of moderate scale breeding,increase the introduction and training of professional and technical personnel,and improve the technical innovation and extension service system.Give full play to the role of technological progress in promoting industrial efficiency.
