In order to screen out high quality triticale varieties(lines)suitable for planting in semi-arid area of Ningxia and enrich forage resources in this area,20 triticale varieties(lines)at home and abroad were selected and planted in Yuanzhou District of Guyuan City,Ningxia.By observing their growth period,agronomic traits,hay yield,nutritional value and seed production performance,principal component analysis and grey correlation degree method were used to comprehensively evaluate,aiming to screen out varieties with strong adaptability and high yield suitable for semi-arid area of Ningxia.The main research results are as follows:(1)The wintering rates of different varieties of triticale were significantly different(P<0.05).There were five varieties with wintering rates greater than 80.00%,namely,Youneng,Jisicao 3,Jinsicao 1,Jian 46 and Jian 47,among which Jinsicao 1 had the strongest wintering rate,reaching 87.30%.The difference in growth period of all triticale was only 1-3 days,and the days of growth period were basically the same.(2)The plant height(153.20 cm),tiller number(4.39 per plant)and leaf number(8 per plant)of Jinsicao No.1 reached the highest;the largest variety of stem diameter is Gannong 2(4.19 mm);KWS Vinetto has the highest fresh to dry ratio of 3.73;Shida 1 had the largest leaf area of 19.87 cm-2;the hay yields of Jian 46(10150.91 kg·hm-2)and Jinsicao 1(11867.49 kg·hm-2)were the highest.The crude protein yield of Jinsicao 1(1036.03 kg·hm-2)was the highest.(3)There were significant differences in nutritional quality among 20 tested varieties(P<0.05).The highest crude ash content was WH11-4,reaching 8.20%.WH11-4 had the highest crude protein content,reaching 11.54%;the highest crude fat content was Jian 46,reaching 1.35%.There were four varieties with relative feeding value higher than 100.00,namely Gannong 2(104.43),Jian 47(104.06),KWS Vinetto(105.67)and WH11-4(104.62).(4)There were significant differences in seed yield among 20 tested triticale varieties(P<0.05).The seed yield of Jinsicao No.l(6715.00 kg·hm-2)was the highest,followed by Shida No.1(5872.00 kg·hm-2).The largest spike length of triticale is KWS H10110(10.28 cm);the largest 1000-grain weight was Zhongsi 3241(60.50 g),followed by Jinsicao 1(60.04 g);Jinsicao No.1(48.00)had the most grains per spike;the spike weight of Zhongsi 1048 was the largest,reaching 3.14 g.The comprehensive evaluation of production performance and nutritional quality of 20 varieties of triticale showed that the ranking from high to low was Jinsicao 1,Jian 47,Zhongsi 3241,WH11-4,Jian 46,Youneng,Jisicao 3,Gannong 2,Jisicao 2,Zhongsi 1048,Shida 1,KWS Vinetto,KWS Serafine,KWS eterno,Jian 18,WH10-4,KWS Dsniello,KWS H10110,Jian 12,Conduct.
