The traditional method of arthrodesis is prone to secondary complications and re quires secondary surgery to remove the fixation. It has some disadvantages, such as fu sion failure, inability to adjust the fusion angle after operation, and long-term observat ion and follow-up after operation. In this experiment, the external fixator is used to ac hieve better effect of joint fusion, further reduce postoperative complications, minimal ly invasive, better and earlier functional recovery,no anesthesia is required during re moval, reduce the risk of anesthesia, and can be pressurized through the external fixat or,which can improve the success rate of joint fusion.Through this experiment, the comparative study of extraosteal fixation and comp ression joint fusion and traditional bone plate internal fixation joint fusion technique p rovides a theoretical basis for the clinical application of extraosteal fixation in the kne e joint and tarsal joint fusion of canine hind limbs, summarizes the experience of extra osthosteal fixation in the knee joint and tarsal joint fusion, and continues to be applied to other joint diseases in the clinic through this theory. In this experiment,8 experimental dogs were divided into experimental group: e xternal fixation compression knee arthrodesis, external fixation tarsal arthrodesis and control group: internal fixation knee arthrodesis and internal fixation tarsal arthrodesi s.Sodium monoiodoacetate(MIA)was used for osteoarthritis(OA)modeling. The ex perimental group was treated with external fixation and compression arthrodesis creat ed in this study, and the control group was treated with traditional bone plate internal f ixation and arthrodesis. The effect of arthrodesis was evaluated by X-ray observation, postoperative complications and functional recovery of affected limbs. All 4 dogs in t he experimental group had a good prognosis, motor function recovered and no compli cations. In the control group,No.7 dog failed to fuse, and the prognosis of the other d ogs was good.External fixation and compression arthrodesis has the advantages of high fusion success rate, small surgical wound, short operation time, good early recovery of affect ed limb function and less postoperative complications. It is a treatment method with g ood curative effect. To verify the feasibility and advantages of external bone fixation i n the fusion of knee and tarsal joints of dog hind limbs.
