Combining the relevant theories of industrial agglomeration and the characteristics of the construction industry,a macro framework for analyzing the agglomeration of the construction industry is proposed, and based on the panel data of the provinces and cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt from 2008 to 2017,the relevant methods of using spatial statistics and spatial measurement models are used. The spatial and temporal changes of the construction industry in the Yangtze River Economic Zone are studied from the inter-provincial scale, the urban scale, and the urban agglomeration scale,to verify the motivational framework of the agglomeration of the construction industry, and to analyze the construction at the inter-provincial scale and the urban scale from a spatial perspective. The spatial spillover mechanism of industrial agglomeration and the geographical boundary of the spatial spillover effect are finally based on the urban-scale panel data, using the dynamic spatial Dubin model to analyze the emission reduction effects of the construction industry agglomeration from the perspective of time and space. The conclusions drawn in this article are as follows:1During the period 2008-2017,the development of the construction industry did not show a strong pulling effect or inhibiting competition among the provinces. However, the construction industry in the Yangtze River Economic Zone has a significant positive spatial spillover phenomenon at the urban scale, but it shows a weakening trend in the time dimension.(1)The agglomeration of the construction industry can be explained by the framework of "demand side-supply side-externality".The demand side mainly includes three aspects: economic foundation, urbanization and fixed asset investment. The three demand side factors are at the provincial scale. All of the above have shown to promote the agglomeration of the construction industry, and on the urban scale, the higher the economic base, the easier it is to "crowse out" the construction industry, thereby reducing the level of local construction industry agglomeration;the supply side is mainly from From the perspective of cost, consider the effect on the agglomeration of the construction industry, namely labor cost, capital cost and transportation cost. The lower the labor cost, the higher the degree of agglomeration of the construction industry;the impact of capital cost and transportation cost on the agglomeration of the construction industry depends on the different spatial scales. And show different characteristics. At the external level, the main factor affecting the agglomeration of the construction industry lies in the increasing return to scale brought about by the agglomeration of upstream and downstream companies in the construction industry, while the impact of human capital, innovation capabilities, government intervention and foreign direct investment on the agglomeration of the construction industry is not significant.(2)Agglomeration of the construction industry has both spatial lag and spatial heterogeneity. The agglomeration of the construction industry at the provincial and urban scales shows significant spatial lag, that is,there is an "intergovernmental competition effect",but the mechanism of this competition effect is different at different spatial scales. The spatial heterogeneity is mainly reflected in the fact that the inter-government competition effect of the agglomeration of the construction industry at the urban scale is mainly produced in the midstream urban agglomerations, while it is not significant in the upstream and downstream urban agglomerations. In addition, the demand side, supply side and externality are not significant. The degree of influence of the agglomeration of the construction industry also shows different characteristics due to different samples of urban agglomerations.(3)The relationship between the agglomeration of the construction industry and carbon dioxide emissions is an "inverted U" shape.Whether the agglomeration of the construction industry can play a certain role in reducing carbon dioxide emissions depends on the stage of the agglomeration of the construction industry, that is,there is a level of agglomeration of the construction industry. The threshold is equal to 9.258.(4)Carbon dioxide emissions show a significant dependence effect in both time and space. At the time level, the characteristics of carbon dioxide emissions from the previous period will be “inherited” to the next period, showing an obvious “snowball”effect(Shao Shuai et al.,2019).At the spatial level, carbon dioxide emissions between cities show significant spatial autocorrelation.Driven by regional integration, there is an "imitation effect" in the development model between regions, which indirectly makes the carbon dioxide emissions strategy between cities There are obvious strategic competition interactions.
