The Dynamic Threshold Effect Of Farmland Management Scale On Agricultural Eco-efficiency

Limited area of arable land and the large population result the small farmland management scale in China,which hinders the agricultural sacle economy.In recent years,government has continuously issued policies to encourage expension of farmland management scale.However,the negative externality with it cannot be ignored.Agricultural eco-efficiency combinate "economy" and "ecology".Thus,exploring the relationship between the farmland management scale and agricultural eco-efficiency has important significance for sustainable agriculture.Based on agricultural data in China,this paper constructs a dynamic threshold model of farmland management scale and agricultural eco-efficiency to find the optimal farmland management scale.First,we defines the concepts of farmland management scale and agricultural ecoefficiency.Combining relevant basic theories and research literature,we conclude that the farmland management scale has a non-linear effect on agricultural eco-efficiency.We first construct the Super-SBM model to measure the agricultural eco-efficiency.The results show that China’s agricultural ecological efficiency is in a rising trend during the study period,but there is still much room for improvement.From the regional perspective,the agricultural eco-efficiency of eastern part is significantly higher than other regions.The inefficient planting area and machinery are the main reasons for the low score.Then,based on the score of agricultural eco-efficiency,we construct a dynamic threshold model of farmland management scale on agricultural eco-efficiency.Result shows that there is significant threshold characteristics of agricultural ecological efficiency.The impact varies in different threshold intervals.At the end of the article,the research results are summarized and relevant policy recommendations are put forward.The rural social security and the land transfer mechanism should be improved to transfer labor force.Farmers should adjust the input structure at the current stage to match their agricultural endowments.The government should take the lead in promoting modern agricultural technology,strengthen the training of professionals,and promote cross-regional exchange of experience.
