| Rice is an important food crop in China.The improvement of grain crop yield can be achieved by using excellent varieties and high-yield cultivation techniques.Rice mutants are important materials for modern breeding,it is an important basic work for rice breeding to evaluate and utilize rice mutants before they are put into field production.The rice mutants selected from japonica Dongjin have been planted in Shaanxi,Shanghai and Hainan for many generations,and the traits are stable.The previous experiments showed that the rice mutant seeds germinate later than the control and resist to pre-harvest sprouting which affects the yield,quality of rice production.In this study,the japonica Dongjin was used as the control material to evaluate the agronomic traits,photosynthetic characteristics,drought resistance at tiller stage and stress resistance at the seeding stage of the mutant.It is hoped that this can lay a foundation for future breeding and actual field production.The results of agronomic traits showed that compared with the control materials,the rice mutants showed significant differences in plant height,1000-grain weight,secondary branch number,grain length-to-width ratio,grain length indicating that the yield of the mutant was affected.The photosynthesis-related characteristics showed that the photosynthetic rate,stomatal conductance,transpiration rate and leaf chlorophyll of rice mutants were lower than the control materials.In the tillering stage there was no difference in drought resistance between mutant rice and japonica Dongjin.Under the salt stress at seedlings stages,the ability of salt tolerance of mutant rice was no different from that of japonica Dongjin.In conclusion,the rice mutant has the characteristics of resistance to pre-harvest sprouting and reduces the yielded loss during rice harvest,and the resistance to stress is not significantly different from the japonica Dongjin,but the yield is shows a downward trend. |
