Abstract/Summary:
In recent years, the Institute of Modern Physics has started to build a new generation of physics experimental terminals represented by the Eic C(the Electron-Ion Collidor in China)based on the HIAF(the High Intensity Heavy-ion Accelerator Facility)cluster. The development of these scientific devices has led to higher demands for particle vertex and track detection in the physics experiments conducted on them.To address these needs, the Monolithic Active Pixel Sensor(MAPS)detector has been widely used in particle physics experiments due to its high sensitivity, high spatial resolution, low noise, and low power consumption. However, most MAPS only record the location or energy of a particle hit, with a time resolution of only a few microseconds. To meet the growing demand for vertex and track detection in particle physics experiments, this thesis proposes a MAPS chip Nupix-H2 based on a domestic 130 nm process, capable of accomplishing time, energy and position measurements. The Nupix-H2 pixel array is made up of 128 rows and 128 columns, with each pixel measuring 22 μm × 22 μm.To output pixel unit information, the readout mode follows the Rolling Shutter scanning mode at a frequency of 40 MHz.In MAPS chips,charge-sensitive devices are the key devices for collecting incident particles, and the performance of charge-sensitive devices directly affects the ability of pixel detection chips to reconstruct particle tracks. Thus, the Nupix-H2 chip’s design begins by studying charge-collecting diodes and creating charge-collecting diode arrays with varying shapes and parameters. To verify the chip’s feasibility,a prototype array with 1row and 16 columns is developed. The energy information of the array is maintained for a long time by the charge-sensitive amplifier, and the time information is measured by the counter.Nupix-H2 has the function of keeping the particle bombardment time information, and the system can realize automatic reset. The simulation results demonstrate that the array has an ENC of less than 30 e-,an energy resolution of approximately 5%,a time resolution of less than 25 ns,and minimal dead time due to the Rolling Shutter structure.
