| With the outbreak of the novel coronavirus in 2020,public health has gradually become an important issue in the society, and the field of landscape architecture has also turned its research focus to the promotion of public health, and produced a large number of research results. However, historical studies from the perspective of public health are relatively scarce, especially those with the history of Chinese gardens as the main content. In this context, this paper takes the Chinese government-built parks from 1840 to 1966 as the main research object, combs their development and evolution from the perspective of public health, summarizes park design techniques, analyzes park examples for demonstration, and discusses what dimensions and ways parks in history promote public health. Finally, through longitudinal comparison in time,This paper summarizes the development trend of park construction characteristics and reveals the long history relationship between public health and parks. The main research results are as follows:Through the statistical analysis of literature reading, modern newspapers and other materials, and according to the differences in the historical background and the development of parks, the construction and development of parks in modern and modern China can be divided into three stages from the perspective of public health: the embryonic stage in the late Qing Dynasty, the development stage in the Republic of China and the continuation stage in the early People’s Republic of China. The New Deal in the late Qing Dynasty, the municipal reform in the Republic of China and the patriotic health movement in the early years of the founding of the People’s Republic of China were the main driving forces for the construction of the park respectively. On this basis, the park construction methods and examples of the three stages are further analyzed. Finally,it summarizes the characteristics of park construction and its development trend, which can be summarized as follows: 1)In terms of national policies,it gradually developed from a passive response to maintain feudal rule to an active formulation of measures aimed at social development and people’s health.2)In green space planning, from the construction of a single park to the planning of the whole urban green space system.3)In the design of the park, from the green space built by adhering to the agricultural experiment site and the industry promotion venue to the independent existence of the park with complete functions; In addition, park design techniques to promote physical, mental and social health are gradually enriched. At last, this paper summarizes the research and expounds its innovation and shortcomings.By sorting out the historical development of Chinese parks from a new perspective of public health, the overall development of modern and contemporary parks can be presented more completely, improve the historical theory of Chinese landscape architecture, enrich the research system of modern and contemporary Chinese landscape architecture, and provide new research perspectives and ideas for future landscape architecture research oriented by public health. |
