| With increasingly fierce social competition, college students are faced with various pressures such as study pressure, employment pressure, interpersonal relationship and life adaptation, and psychological confusion and maladjustment are increasingly aggravated.Students have the second highest level of depression among different occupational groups, according to the National Mental Health Survey Report 2020.Campus green space is a necessary place for college students to live and study, which has an important impact on individual mental health. Therefore, how to optimize the campus green space environment to promote the development of college students’ mental health has become an urgent problem to be solved under the background of The Times that mental health has been paid attention to by the public.Domestic and foreign scholars’ studies on the impact of green space on mental health mostly start from the single factor, but fail to study the impact of green space on individual mental health from the interaction between various factors. Therefore, from the perspective of configuration, this study explores which campus green space factors combined into paths have an impact on the mental health of college students.By reviewing the green space factors proposed by previous studies that affect individual mental health, eight green space factors with the highest frequency are obtained, which are green space visibility, spatial diversity, vegetation richness, green space edge fold degree, per capita green space area, green space rate, canopy coverage rate and green space accessibility. In this study, field investigation, street view image and software analysis were used to obtain the data of 8 green space factors, and Pearson correlation analysis was used to extract and verify whether the 8 green space factors could enter the qualitative comparative analysis model. In this study,18 campus green Spaces in Hangzhou were taken as examples,848 college students were investigated on site, and individual mental health status was evaluated by The Kessler Psychological Distress Scale(K10),which was used as the result variable of qualitative comparative analysis.fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis(fs QCA)carried out necessity analysis and configuration analysis on the anpreceding conditions and result variables to explore the difference of impacts of different types of campus green space on individual mental health and the corresponding paths of promotion. The main results of the study are as follows:(1)Pearson correlation analysis model was used to verify eight green space factors: green space visibility, space diversity, vegetation richness, green space edge fold degree, per capita green space area, green space rate, canopy coverage and green space accessibility were significantly correlated with the mental health of college students.(2)Through the analysis of fsQCA,it is concluded that campus green space rate and space diversity are necessary conditions to promote the positive development of college students’ mental health, and can explain the mechanism of campus green space promoting the development of college students’ mental health separately.Campus vegetation richness, visibility of green space, margin fold degree of green space, canopy coverage rate, average per capita green space and accessibility of green space do not constitute the necessary conditions to be explained separately,so the reasons should be explained jointly from the perspective of configuration;(3)The study concludes that there are five paths affecting campus green space to promote the mental health of college students: the accessibility initiative path, the overall balance path, the quantity oriented path, the green space quality path and the accessible comfort path. The comprehensive balanced path has the highest coverage and the largest number of explained cases. The above research results provide a reference scheme for the construction and optimization of campus green space planning and designers in practice. At the same time,it also helps to provide a new research idea for the related research in the field of landscape architecture mental health. In addition, this study provides a new perspective for landscape architecture and multidisciplinary integration; The research direction of landscape architecture and health has been enriched with new methods. The conclusion of this study provides a new practical idea for the construction of campus green space based on mental health promotion, and has certain reference significance for the development of campus green space construction and landscape architecture industry in the future. |
