Abstract/Summary:
Xi’an,as a representative of China’s image to the world,is actively promoting the optimization work related to urban parks.Urban integrated parks are the main places for residents to carry out public leisure activities and important carriers for fitness and exercise activities. In addition to satisfying access, park pedestrian environments also have functions such as viewing, resting and exercising, and derive social interaction behaviors such as talking and gathering, which have positive values for the development of residents’ outdoor activities. Therefore,a high-quality integrated park pedestrian environment has a health-promoting effect. However, there is often a phenomenon of form over function in the construction process, which makes it difficult for the pedestrian system to give full play to its own benefits. To address this series of problems in the walking environment of urban comprehensive parks, this paper explores the construction of a walking environment evaluation model suitable for comprehensive parks in Xi’an from the perspective of users’ walking experience, combining hierarchical analysis and semantic difference scale method, with the help of rating data and coefficient of variation.Taking the sample comprehensive park as an example, the paper integrates and classifies the quality of its internal walking environment by using multiple sources of data such as electronic map data, questionnaire data, noise detection data, social network data and image segmentation data, and then optimizes the walking environment of the comprehensive park in Xi’an in a targeted manner, with a view to providing reference for the construction and improvement of the walking environment of the comprehensive park in Xi’an and similar areas. The main findings of the study are as follows:(1)The evaluation model of the walking environment of Xi’an comprehensive park was constructed with five categories of walking experience, including safety, efficiency, comfort, aesthetics and fun,as the criterion layer and 21 walking experience impact factors as the index layer. The importance of users’ walking experience is in the following order: efficiency > safety >comfort > aesthetics > fun, with a small difference between safety and comfort weights, and the importance is similar.Among the relevant impact factors, resting facilities, enclosure facilities, cleanliness and path accessibility, signage effectiveness, lighting facilities,barrier-free facilities and public restroom accessibility most affect visitors’ walking experience.(2)In Xi’an Comprehensive Park, the efficient experience is relatively the best, and the interesting experience is relatively the worst; In the pedestrian environment, the satisfaction of tourists with the traffic capacity, green vision rate and accessibility of public toilets was relatively highest, and the satisfaction of tourists with the convenience of commercial service facilities and road network connection was relatively lowest.(3)The pedestrian environment quality of the sample comprehensive park is,in descending order: Xingqing Palace Park> Huancheng Xiyuan> Hongguang Park> Aerospace City Zhonghu Park > Xi’an World Expo Park> Wenjingshan Park, the safety, efficiency, aesthetics and fun experience of the pedestrian environment of Xingqinggong Park are the best in the sample, the walking experience of Huancheng Xiyuan is the highest, and the walking comfort experience of Hongguang Park is the worst.Wenjingshan Park walking experience is relatively the least safe, efficient, aesthetic and interesting.(4)Based on the current characteristics and evaluation results of the pedestrian environment of the sample comprehensive parks,we propose an overall optimization strategy for the scale at the resource allocation level in response to the conclusion that the quality of the pedestrian environment of comprehensive parks in the old city is significantly higher than that of other urban areas;in view of the relatively poor overall interesting and aesthetic experience of the pedestrian environment of Xi’an’s comprehensive parks,we propose strategies for optimizing the pedestrian experience dimension at the level of landscape perception;in view of the indicators with low scores in the evaluation of the pedestrian environment of each sample comprehensive park,we propose strategies for optimizing the comprehensive parks at the level of environmental factors, aiming to build a higher quality pedestrian environment of the city’s comprehensive parks.
