As a pillar industry in China,the machinery manufacturing industry accounts for more than1/3 of the country’s GDP and crucially impacts national economic development.However,the advancement of economic globalization has made its supply chain increasingly complex.The growing uncertain external risks brought by globalization have also gradually increased the disturbance faced by it.The supply chain of the machinery manufacturing industry is characterized by exogenousness and dependence,meaning it is very vulnerable to the impact of the external environment and easy to be relocated and disrupted.Therefore,it is very important to identify and investigate the factors influencing the vulnerability of the machinery manufacturing supply chain,clarify the relationships between the influencing factors,and propose corresponding countermeasures.Based on the current development status of the machinery manufacturing industry and relevant research literature,24 factors affecting the vulnerability of the machinery manufacturing supply chain are firstly identified from three aspects,which are sensitivity,exposure and adaptability.Secondly,through the K-mean cluster analysis of the gray correlation degree of the influencing factors,18 factors with greater influence are screened out and an evaluation index system is established.Then,considering the interrelationship between the factors,the D-ANP method,which combines Decision-making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory(DEMATEL)and Analytic Network Process(ANP),is applied to analyze the importance of each influencing factor and determine the index weights.The matter-element model is also adopted to evaluate the vulnerability of machinery manufacturing industry to determine the vulnerability level of the supply chain.After that,a sensitivity analysis is conducted on the index weights to verify the validity of the evaluation results and identify eight main sensitive factors.Finally,based on the results of the sensitivity analysis and the assessment results,combined with the current situation of the machinery manufacturing supply chain in China,corresponding strategies are proposed to reduce the vulnerability of the machinery manufacturing supply chain.The research results show that:(1)The machinery manufacturing industry is capital and technology-intensive,and its current supply chain vulnerability level is "higher level".(2)One sensitive factor is the complex network of the supply chain is a sensitive factor,which is its own shortcoming and has a high degree of influence on vulnerability.(3)The growing globalization of the supply chain and various external external risks are exposure factors,which are the main sources of the vulnerability of the machinery manufacturing supply chain.(4)Four of the eight sensitive factors belong to the adaptive capacity factor.Therefore,improving the adaptive capacity of the machinery manufacturing supply chain can effectively reduce the degree of vulnerability.(5)Based on the analysis results of the influencing factors,five strategies are proposed to cope with the vulnerability of the machinery manufacturing supply chain and provide insights for the government and machinery manufacturing enterprises.They are:strengthening the research and development capability,establishing a risk control and early warning system,promoting information communication among supply chain partners,strengthening supply chain partnership and improving the visualization level of supply chains.
