Guangzhou Customs Wave Building is located at No.42,Haitian Siwang Street,Hongde Road,south bank of the Pearl River,Haizhu District,Guangzhou,commonly known as "Wave Tower" because of the spherical installation wave platform next to the building,which is a landmark building on the Pearl River channel in the early 20 th century.Founded in 1908 and completed in 1910,the Wave Tower has witnessed the whole process of historical and cultural development of modern Guangzhou Customs after a hundred years.The building was designed by Australian architect Arthur William Parney and his Zhiping Yang Gang for Guangdong Customs staff.It is one of the only six remaining architectural cultural heritage buildings in the modern Guangzhou customs architectural system.The unique architectural design techniques of Guangzhou Customs Wave Building and the customs architectural decoration culture have high historical and humanistic value.From the end of the 19 th century to the beginning of the 20 th century,it was a prosperous period for the development of modern architectural decoration in Guangzhou,and the birth of Guangzhou Customs Wave Building was also a special era in which Western architectural decorative arts culture was widely spread in Guangzhou.The study of Guangzhou Customs Wave Building and the architectural decoration characteristics of Guangzhou Customs helps us to understand Western architectural decorative art culture,and the research on Guangzhou Customs Wave Building architectural decoration repair strategy is conducive to the effective protection,activation and reuse of a large number of Western architectural decorative art cultural heritage in Guangzhou and even the whole country.Taking Guangzhou Customs Wave Building as the research object,this paper surveys,classifies and summarizes from the aspects of floor plan,fa?ade form and interior decoration,so as to propose the decoration system of Guangzhou Customs Wave Building,and compares this pattern with Owen Jones’ "Decorative Law" pattern,analyzes and evaluates the value of Customs Wave Building in accordance with the "Guidelines for the Protection of Chinese Cultural Relics and Historic Sites",puts forward the Guangzhou Wave Building decoration and repair scheme suitable for contemporary use needs,and provides reference for the decoration and repair of modern Customs buildings.
