Research On Hanging Fish Decoration Of Traditional Architecture In Eastern Fujian

This paper,from the design perspective,employs the research methods of iconography,architecture,typology,statistics and other disciplines to conduct a comprehensive exploration of the hanging fish decoration of traditional buildings in eastern Fujian,taking the hanging fish as the researchobject.Field research,literature analysis and comparison are also included.Through the combing and analysis of the origin and distribution of hanging fish in China,the origin of hanging fish is sorted out from the perspective of diachronic nature,and the characteristics of hanging fish in the four regions of Sanjin,Central Plains,Northwest Yunnan and Southwest Zhejiang are listed and compared from the perspective of synchronic in China.Focusing on the distribution and decorative characteristics of hanging fish in eastern Fujian,seven representative villages of hanging fish decoration were selected from Fu’an City,Jiaocheng District,Shouning County and Zhirong County for explanation.The four decorative characteristics of the type,pattern,text and color of the hanging fish in eastern Fujian were discussed,and it was explained that there are two types: four-stage and three-segment,with 30 compositions for four-stage and 15 compositions for threesection.The decorative patterns include six types of themes: religion,plants,animals,words,geometry and utensils,and there are balanced,symmetrical and continuous pattern expressions;The text is carved in the body of italics,affiliation,and seal,and the content can be divided into nine categories: one-to-one corresponding to the three cultural observations of disaster elimination,prayer for auspiciousness,and inheritance of family customs;Colours and ornamentation follow a highly simplified approach to summarizing the rules of natural colour.Through the above analysis,the four cultural meanings representing the folk customs of eastern Fujian are excavated,namely,the inner logic of Taoist nature,the auspicious vision of beautiful meaning,the realistic pursuit of pragmatism and secularity,and the color that is colored with the kind.This study can provide architectural and cultural value for the subsequent conservation,restoration and utilization of traditional buildings in the region.At the same time,it is hoped that the research on the hanging fish of traditional buildings in eastern Fujian will arouse the attention and protection and reuse of people from all walks of life to create greater value.
