Chinese traditional decorative pattern has a long history, is a result of the long-term development of Chinese culture, is a representative of traditional culture. Behind it are profound culture, thoughts and feelings. Decorative pattern is the most important part of Chinese traditional garden. As the main decorative pattern, botanical pattern is widely used in landscaping. An organic combination of Beijing tradition garden and the botanical pattern is of great significance and value in studying the application and law of the botanical pattern in traditional garden.This paper gives an overview of the historical development and cultural connotation of the botanical decorative pattern. Based on site investigations and information collection, the paper goes deep into the unique type and carrier of the ancient garden in Beijing, studies the artistic requirements, application laws and other factors of these botanical decorative patterns, and further summarizes the application of botanical decorative pattern in traditional landscaping. The article is divided into six chapters. The first chapter describes the object, purpose, content and methods of this study. The second chapter defines the pattern and botanical decorative pattern, and summarizes the themes, cultural connotation and aesthetic significance of the botanical decorative pattern in traditional landscaping. Based on massive site investigations, the third chapter analyzes the history of Beijing traditional gardening under the unique geographical background, relates a variety of garden elements with the botanical decorative patterns in different types of Beijing traditional gardens and different garden carriers. The fourth chapter analyzes the forms and style features of the botanical decorative patterns in Beijing traditional gardens, and discusses the materials and models of these botanical decorative patterns. The fifth chapter summarizes the application of botanical decorative patterns in traditional gardens. The sixth chapter is a conclusion.
