| “Ten Scenes of West Lake” is one of the six core elements of the World Heritage“West Lake Cultural Landscape”.Known as the epitome of garden architecture,the“Pavilion” is closely related to the development and changes of the “Ten Scenes of West Lake”,and plays an important role in the key nodes of its history.Studying the pavilion in the Ten Scenes of West Lake will help to supplement and expand the research on the cultural landscape of West Lake in Hangzhou,and promote the inheritance and development of Chinese classical gardens.This paper uses methods such as literature research,field research,comparative analysis,simulation reconstruction,and comprehensive induction to sort out the historical evolution of Pavilions in the Ten Scenic of West Lake,focusing on the“ conception ” and “ construct ” of its gardening,and summarizing its “ conception and construct ” features and apply them in practice.The study came to the following conclusions:(1)Pavilions in the Ten Scenes of West Lake has gone through three historical stages: origination,prosperity and maturity.It witnessed the fixation of the names and addresses of the ten scenic spots of West Lake,changed the landscape connotation of some scenic spots,and played an important role in the inheritance,continuation and revival of the Ten Scenes of West Lake.From the Southern Song Dynasty to the present,the number and form of pavilions in the Ten Scenes of West Lake have become increasingly abundant.The pavilions has shifted from functional to humanistic and leisure,and gradually integrated into people’s daily life.It is an indispensable component of the Ten Scenes of West Lake.(2)The pavilions in the Ten Scenes of West Lake serve different levels of landscape: the pavilion can determine the theme of the site based on its own conception,it can also be lined up with other gardening elements to perform together and serve Landscape construction on a larger scale.(3)Today’s pavilions are built according to local conditions.The “conception” of pavilions is composed of two aspects: construction purpose and artistic conception.The construct can be implemented at three scales: the West Lake,landscape nodes,and individual buildings,thereby controlling the style,layout,and management of the pavilions.The mutual influence and fusion of “ conception ” and “ construct ” have formed three functional types of the present-day pavilions in the Ten Scenes of West Lake: viewing,commemorating,and sheltering,with a simple,transparent,and lightweight style.The pavilions displays the characteristics of exquisiteness,appropriateness,innovation,and inheritance,providing endless inspiration for modern pavilion design. |
