A Preliminary Study On Urban Fire In Changchun Based On "Shengjing Times"(1907-1931)

"Shengjing Times" is an important newspaper and periodical document in Northeast China in modern times.It was founded in Liaoning in 1906 and ceased publication in 1944.The content of the published reports covers a wide range of precious historical materials for the study of politics,economy,culture,education,military affairs,social life customs,folk customs,etc.in Northeast China at that time,reflecting the social development status at that time more comprehensively.Changchun was an important city in Northeast China at that time,and the Shengjing Times had countless reports on the big and small events in Changchun city.Among them,the city fire was the current news at that time,and it was a good way to understand and study a city’s historical development and urban management mechanism.It is a more objective and novel entry point to the living conditions of residents in the city.This paper,through quantitative statistics,sorting and analysis of 182 urban fires in Changchun published in the "Shengjing Times" from 1907 to 1931,explores the external environment,internal urban functions and human life activities of Changchun city from 1907 to 1931.At the same time,it tries to study the ontology of Changchun city fire,and provide historical experience for the construction of modern Changchun city and other cities’ fire prevention and fire protection system.The main body of this paper is divided into three parts.The first part makes quantitative statistics and sorts out the city fires in Changchun of "Shengjing Times" from 1907 to 1931.First,four levels are made according to the loss situation.Secondly,through longitudinal comparison,the time occurrence law of urban fires in Changchun from 1907 to 1931 is obtained from the distribution of annual frequency series,seasonal distribution and specific time points.Finally,the spatial distribution characteristics of urban fires in Changchun from1907 to 1931 are obtained from the regional distribution of fires by means of horizontal comparison and the causes are analyzed.The second part organizes and analyzes the text,digs deep into the cause of the fire,discusses the specific cause of the fire from the natural climate environment of modern Changchun,the building materials of Changchun city,the living and production activities of urban residents,and the living customs of residents,and further analyzes the reported In fire,the adverse effects caused by fire are studied,including casualties,property loss,social disorder,etc.The third part discusses pre-disaster prevention,disaster rescue measures and post-disaster response safeguard measures from the perspective of city managers,focusing on the spatial layout and fire insurance mechanism of modern Changchun urban fire protection agencies.
