With the rapid development of new energy vehicles and autonomous driving technology, people have put forward higher requirements for intelligent vehicles. As one of the core sensors of automobiles, millimeter wave radar has become a research hotspot due to its unique advantages. In millimeter wave radar systems, the performance of antennas has a decisive influence on the performance of the entire system. This thesis focuses on the practical needs and future development trends of millimeter wave radar systems, and studies the array antennas used for millimeter wave radar systems. In order to reduce the volume of millimeter wave radar and improve the signal-to-noise ratio of the antenna system, the main research work and achievements are as followsBased on the requirements of the 77 GHz millimeter wave radar,a microstrip array antenna with a beam pointing of 45 degrees is designed. The microstrip array antenna is based on an 8-element serially fed microstrip linear array, and uses the Chebyshev method to achieve a low sidelobe effect of the linear array.A feed network is constructed using a T-junction power divider, and power distribution and phase compensation between the linear arrays are performed. The resulting array achieves the expected design effect.Only one RF chip transmission channel is used to achieve directionality of the radar antenna. In order to overcome the disadvantage of excessive energy loss of microstrip antennas in high-frequency millimeter wave radar applications,a waveguide slot antenna sample suitable for the new generation of millimeter wave radar was designed and tested on a radar, verifying the effectiveness of the waveguide slot antenna sample in radar systems.By reducing energy loss during transmission, the sensitivity of the system to receive signals is improved. In order to suppress interference from other radar signals during the operation of millimeter wave radars and reduce the processing cost of radar antennas,a 45 degree oblique linearly polarized substrate integrated waveguide antenna was designed. The antenna adopts a design of mutual compensation between slots, overcoming the difficulty of impedance matching, and successfully reducing the antenna area. The area array has a gain of 20.21 d B and a bandwidth that covers the scanning range of the FMCW radar. It has a good suppression effect on cross polarization in the 45 degree direction. This design improves the signal-to-noise ratio of the entire antenna system.
