In recent years, the Party Central Committee, with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, has attached great importance to red tourism, and red architectural heritage,as a "living testimony" of revolutionary history, plays an important role in red tourism. The values carried by revolutionary architectural heritage are displayed to the present generation through space. On the one hand, revolutionary architectural heritage space has the function of carrying historical memories and is an important material carrier for participants to perceive history and experience revolutionary scenes;on the other hand,it has a unique spiritual connotation, which can trigger strong emotional resonance and identity among participants, and is a red bridge for spreading the revolutionary spirit. However, how to scientifically and effectively evaluate the revolutionary architectural heritage space is an important issue in heritage optimisation, and spatial elements,as an important basis for spatial evaluation, can be used to comprehensively consider all aspects of the architectural heritage space. At the same time, identity is an important feature of revolutionary architectural heritage space, which is a complex and comprehensive psychological result of the participants.Identity can be used as a spatial analysis tool to interpret the space from the participants’ perspective, revealing the evaluation elements of revolutionary architectural heritage space more comprehensively and providing a scientific reference for its optimisation.Firstly, this study introduces the theory of identity as an analytical tool.Through a review of the concept of identity theory,we analyse the intrinsic relationship between identity and revolutionary architectural heritage spaces, and analyse the evaluation elements of revolutionary architectural heritage spaces based on the perspective of identity.Through the process of selecting spatial elements with high frequency from literature as reference, analysing the spatial evaluation elements of revolutionary architectural heritage through rooted theory and consulting experts to determine them, the spatial evaluation elements are finally determined to consist of six dimensions of visual identity, spatial form, spatial organisation, cultural characteristics, vitality support and activity perception and their 23 elements.Secondly, this study verifies the spatial evaluation elements through structural equation modelling and calculates the weights. The hypothetical relationship between the dimensions is proposed,a model of spatial evaluation elements of revolutionary architectural heritage based on the perspective of identity is constructed, field research is conducted in typical revolutionary architectural heritage, questionnaires are collected, data are analysed for reliability, validity and validation factors, model fitting and hypothesis validation are carried out on the sample data, and the weights of spatial evaluation dimensions and elements of revolutionary architectural heritage are clarified. Finally, this study proposes a strategy for the optimisation of the revolutionary architectural heritage space.Based on the identified spatial evaluation elements and their weights,we understand and analyse how the spatial elements affect participants’ sense of identity from the perspective of spatial perception, and propose optimisation strategies in five aspects of space,in order to provide ideas for the conservation and utilisation of revolutionary architectural heritage space.
