The Chinese-style pick-up and drop-off has caused a lot of problems in the urban built environment around the primary school,especially in the old city,a phenomenon that affects the image of the city streets and threatens the safety of children.The division of nearby school districts and a large number of walking to school have created a higher demand for pedestrian space in the school route.With the promotion of child-friendly cities and the construction of old city renewal,it has provided a good opportunity for improving the school route.According to the characteristics of children’s psychophysiology and general school behavior,combined with the theoretical data of child-friendly urban streets,this paper summarizes children’s needs for urban streets,and expounds the relationship between urban walking space and school route.The elements and theories are applied to the school route,and finally it is concluded that the functions of the school route include transportation,landscape,cultural leisure,and places.And analyze its constituent elements separately.According to the classification of the primary school in Chengdu,the old city primary schools in the first ring road of Chengdu are investigated.Because the pattern of primary schools facing the road is strongly related to the quality of the school environment before the school,the primary schools in the old city of Chengdu are divided into single-faced,double-faced and multiple-faced.Roads are divided into three categories.We selected typical sample schools from the three primary schools for offline research.We learned that Chengdu Old Town Primary Schools have a large proportion of pick-up and drop-off.For motor vehicle pick-up and drop-off,we learned the subjective needs of children’s parents through interviews and questionnaires.Combined with the actual investigation of the object offline,we concluded the problem of the offline school path in the old city.The main problem is the personal safety of children who are mainly traffic vehicles.The second is the small scale of the school route in the old city,coupled with various problems in the streets,which lead to the unsmooth schooling,and finally,the lack of interesting construction for children,and then summed up the optimization points of the school route.Based on the main points,it is proposed in the measures that the current situation of the road should not be changed to maximize the use of the distribution space in front of the school.For the parking problem of non-motor vehicles and motor vehicles,a complete parking configuration process is required.According to the general school flow within the research scope,it is proposed to classify the school routes.The needs are given three levels of positioning from large to small.The depth of transformation of the school route at different levels is different.The interesting transformation shows the individuality of children and makes them clearly different from other streets in the city;the secondary school route will be the transition from the school to the city street and play a guiding role in general schooling;the tertiary school route will be more decentralized The streets and alleys of the school focus on giving childlike performance according to different situations,but the above all must meet the basic needs of safety,comfort and convenience for general schooling.
