In recent years, the rapid development of urbanization has brought about many thermal environment problems and reduced the rate of residents going out.Research shows that creating comfortable and healthy outdoor space thermal environment can change this situation.Reasonable prediction of thermal sensation of outdoor public space is beneficial to the maintenance and optimization of thermal environment. However, the existing studies either directly follow the indoor prediction standard or do not consider the effect of psychological adaptation, leading to the deviation between the prediction results and the actual value. Therefore, further exploration is necessary.Based on the theoretical basis of physiological-psychological adaptation,a new general thermal sensation prediction model is proposed. The model assumes that thermal sensation consists of two parts: the basic thermal sensation and the adaptive thermal sensation. The basic thermal sensation is reflected by standard effective temperature SET*,and the adaptive thermal sensation is determined by psychological factors. In order to realize this model,an investigation experiment was carried out in6 typical outdoor spaces in Changsha,a city with hot summer and cold winter, and 4250 valid samples were obtained. In the experiment, thermal environmental parameters were measured continuously by instruments, and subjective feelings, clothing information and activity status were investigated by questionnaires. After statistical analysis, the main conclusions are as follows:(1)SET*,thermal expectation, thermal preference and mood state have significant effects on thermal sensation,of which SET* reflects the combined effect of physical and physiological factors.(2)The determination coefficient of the general model is 0.953,which is higher than the model that does not consider psychological adaptation, and it has the best accuracy in predicting the mean thermal sensation.(3)Psychological adaptation can effectively broaden the range of thermal neutrality. The neutral temperature of the whole area of Changsha is 19.1~25.1℃ when the psychological adaptation is not considered;when the psychological adaptation is considered, the neutral temperature is 7.2~35.1℃.In practice,30% of the psychological indicators of the residents are concentrated in the range of ±0.5,and the SET* in this area is 16.5~30.9°C;the psychological indicators in the range of-1.5~2.5 account for 80%,and the SET* in this area is9.2~34.5°C.(4)There are significant differences in the psychological factors and thermal sensations of different public spaces, and the neutral temperature range is also different.According to the neutral temperature,a variety of outdoor thermal environments can be created to improve the utilization rate of urban public space.
