Research On The Group Of Architects Studying In France In Modern China

Chinese modern architects studying abroad,especially architects studying in the United States,have gained much attention from scholars and experts.However,there has actually been little research on the subject about architects studying in France in modern China.Actually,they have made great contribution to the development of modern Chinese architecture,urban construction,fine arts and other aspects.This thesis will discuss the similarity and individuality of these architects during the process of choosing or taking up occupations.Important historical events in modern China,architectural trends in France,these architects’ home environment,educational background,social relations and activities will all be taken into account.The thesis is divided into seven parts.ChapterⅠ is the introduction,which introduces the topic,the research object and content.ChapterⅡ is a general condition about all the architects studying in French in modern China.This chapter explores the internal relationship among these architects and their career development,focusing on the geographical distribution,family and education background,interpersonal relationship of these architects and some important historical events,academic thoughts and social activities involved during the period of study in France.ChapterⅢ to Ⅵ tells the diverse contribution of Chinese architects studying in France from the following aspects:architectural education,architectural practice and concept,urban planning and municipal engineering,cultural exchanges and other designs.Typical examples will be selected to show the outstanding contributions of these Chinese architects comprehensively.ChapterⅦ is the conclusion.On the one hand,this part summaries the characteristics of these architects and discusses the similarities and differences between the Chinese architects who studied in France and the United States in Modern China.On the other hand,conclusions of this thesis and more study to be added are all covered in this part.The thesis is about 63,000 words,3 tables,and 93 pictures.
