Waterfront Landscape Planning And Design Based On Natural Solutions (NbS)

The expansion of the city constantly encroaches on the river and its surrounding areas,and a large number of grey infrastructure gradually "wraps" the waterfront area,blocking the natural process of the waterfront area,making it gradually lose its ecological function,causing a series of disasters and endangering human and urban security.The waterfront is an important link between the city and the water body,which can reduce the damage of disasters to the city and build a good ecological environment.Nature based Solutions(NbS)advocate relying on the power of nature and using a way closer to nature to deal with the multiple social challenges faced by human beings.Besides environmental governance,the NbS concept provides new thinking,new approaches and new goals for waterfront landscape design in the new era.Based on the theory of landscape ecology,the theory of sustainable development,the theory of design conforming to nature and the theory of river course being close to nature,this paper adopted the research methods of literature study,case analysis and field investigation,introduced NbS concept and discussed the methods and practices of waterfront landscape design.The main research achievements are as follows:(1)Five domestic and foreign excellent cases of waterfront landscape design are selected and analyzed from the aspects of project overview,design concept,design strategy,etc.,from which water purification methods,ecological construction and diversified clastic design strategies in waterfront landscape planning are drawn to provide experience reference and inspiration for the design of the section from 107 National Highway to Zhushan on the north bank of the Lao Dao River.(2)The characteristics,classification,scheme set,urban application and practice process of NbS were comprehensively reviewed,so as to have a deeper understanding of the connotation of NbS and summarize the guidelines of waterfront landscape design based on NbS:river ecological governance;Construct ecological revetment to promote the ecological balance of riverbank;Restoring the natural space of the riverbank;Create habitats and enhance biodiversity.The principles of waterfront landscape design based on NbS were put forward to provide theoretical guidance for the subsequent landscape design of the section from 107 National Highway to Zhushan on the north bank of the Lao Dao River.(3)Taking the section from 107 National Highway to Zhushan on the north bank of the Lao Dao River as a practice case,through site investigation and current situation analysis,summarizing the current problems of the site and putting forward solutions,taking "one axis,four districts and multiple points" as the landscape spatial pattern,Landscape planning and design were carried out in four areas:"Chirping of birds and fir Forest·Natural Oxygen Bar","Winding bank with Lotus Wind·Vibrant Blue Bay","Literary style and water Charm·Cultural Greenway",and "Green Oxygen North Bank·Ecological Greenway".Through the integration of natural resources,nature as the base,according to local conditions,to create an ecological waterfront activity space.
