The current automobile design pays more and more attention to the diversified needs of consumers,and it is difficult for traditional design methods to produce multiple solutions in a short time,while parametric design can adjust parameters to quickly generate different design solutions and improve design efficiency.Parametric design is a design method of applying rational thinking,which can make up for the lack of thinking about users’ perceptual needs in the design process and realize the combination of perception and rationality in design by studying the semantic evaluation of users’ perceptual style.This dissertation proposes a parametric design method and application process for automotive wheels based on style semantics,studies the matching relationship between morphological elements of automotive wheel design and style semantics,provides guidance for parametric design for perceptual research,and develops an automotive configurator system with the help of Unreal Engine to meet the application needs of wheel solutions in different scenarios.The specific research content is mainly divided into three parts:firstly,theoretical research,collecting car wheel samples and then classifying and screening them,and researching and coding the samples through morphological analysis method to obtain the style semantic vocabulary,obtaining the user’s style semantic evaluation data of car wheels through semantic difference method research,and applying quantitative category one theory to construct the matching relationship between the morphological design elements of car wheels and style semantics;secondly,design practice,and constructing the matching relationship between the morphological design elements of car wheels and style semantics through parametric design.Next is the design practice,constructing logical rules for different morphological elements of automotive wheels through parametric modeling and applying the matching results to guide the parametric design practice of automotive wheels with different style semantics;finally is the application research of wheel design solutions,developing an automotive configurator system through Unreal Engine to meet the functions of switching and dynamic operation of automotive wheel configurations with different style semantics,and the system can be used for design in the automotive industry The system can be used in the automotive industry design review and user offline car purchase options and other scenarios.
