Adolescents are a special period in human growth,a stage of transition from childhood to adulthood, and neglecting the adolescent group can affect their own development and social stability. With the rapid development of cities, youth issues have received widespread attention.China has the largest youth group in the world, with over 170 million youth groups living in cities, and paying attention to youth groups and creating suitable urban spaces is an effective way to promote the healthy growth of youth and urban development.Understanding the needs of youth activities, evaluating and optimising the environment of urban parks in Baiyin City, will serve as a catalyst for the planning and construction of urban parks in Baiyin City and their later maintenance and enhancement.Through the current situation of domestic and international research,we have conducted a summary of child-friendly,adolescent behavioural psychology and activity space, and found that there is a lack of research on adolescent behavioural development and activity needs, and relatively little research has been conducted on the activity needs of adolescents in the 12-18 age group,so as to further define the scope of research. This paper takes the youth activity needs as the starting point, and takes the Baiyin city park as the research object.By examining the differences between the current spatial situation, landscape environment and related facilities of Baiyin city park and the youth activity needs,we construct a structural model of youth activity needs in Baiyin city park, and use the importance-performance analysis method to determine the optimization level and propose optimization strategies.Firstly, through literature analysis, field research and questionnaire distribution, the physical and spatial environment of Baiyin City Park and the psychological perception of youths were investigated and analysed, and youth activity behaviour and needs were summarised;secondly, the influencing factors that may affect youth activity needs were summarised based on the research results, and exploratory factor analysis was conducted to determine the rationality of the indicator factors, and through multiple rotations the final 6public factors and 32 secondary indicator factors were extracted and structural equation models were constructed and screened for quantification, and the weights of each influence factor were finally determined through second-order equation testing, including landscape design(0.1545),management and maintenance(0.1436),youth rights and interests(0.1545),ability and cognition(0.1572)and safety(0.2331);finally,through The importance-satisfaction analysis, with youth satisfaction as the vertical axis and factor weights as the horizontal axis, quantifies the 32 index factors into four different quadrants to determine the priority of urban park optimisation, and proposes optimisation strategies based on the analysis: increasing scientific signs, creating humanistic spaces, optimising youth rights and interests, enhancing the fun of the venue and improving the infrastructure. This paper re-examines the composition of urban park spatial environment systems from the perspective of young people’s activity needs, and explores the scientific evaluation methods and optimisation design ideas. The results of the study can provide reliable support for quantitative analysis and objective assessment of the spatial environment of urban parks, provide practical guidance for the design of spatial environment and renewal of existing environment, and provide reference for the formulation of relevant design guidelines and norms.
