| Employees constitute an essential resource for every organization including the construction sector.Organizations depend largely on the services of employees to achieve their organizational goals.Just as employers are particular about ensuring the input of employees to achieve their goals,it is imperative to motivate employees to put in more effort at work.A current data-based examination resolved that competitiveness problems are mainly motivational in nature.Employee motivation and job satisfaction at the workplace cannot be dissociated since they have been identified as vital tools use by human resource professionals in enhancing employees’performance.The dataset comprises a quantitative survey and a sample size of 250 employees from the construction of GETFund educational infrastructure projects in Ghana.The obtained data from a structured questionnaire,which was built on a 5-point Likert scale,was analysed by the use of Linear Regression.The analysis of the study was enacted by using STATA(15.0)and Statistical Package for Social Science(SPSS)version 20.0 statistical software to excerpt the results.The proposed model was blueprinted based on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory,Expectancy theory,Range affective theory,and related literature.Before estimating the main results,preliminary analysis such as descriptive statistics,correlation analysis,validity and reliability of the instruments,multi-collinearity test and model fitness were done to provide initial justification and appropriateness of the instruments and the methods chosen to test the proposed relationships guiding the study.Objective one assessed the relationship between motivation and employee performance of construction workers in the GETFund educational infrastructure projects in Ghana.Results from the study indicated that within the GETFund education infrastructure projects context,employee motivation has significant effect on employee performance.The resultant regression indicated a strong relationship between employee motivation and employee performance.The second objective assessed the relationship between motivation and job satisfaction of construction workers in the GETFund educational infrastructure projects in Ghana.The finding provides empirical evidence within the construction sector of Ghana that employee motivation has significant effect on job satisfaction.The resultant regression indicated a strong relationship between these two variables.The third objective assessed the relationship between job satisfaction and employee performance of construction workers in the GETFund educational infrastructure projects in Ghana.The result also indicates that job satisfaction has a positive significant effect on employee performance in the construction sector of Ghana.Based on the outcome of the thesis,it is recommended that stakeholders and managers in the construction business especially the GETFund educational infrastructure projects to provide effective employee motivation policies that build strong job satisfaction to improve employee performance. |
