| International trade is now gradually refined into products, forming a division system of the global value chain: different economies are responsible for the division of tasks in different links of the same value chain due to their differences in advantages, developed countries with capital and technological advantages are generally responsible for the research, development, design and sales of the high-end value chain, and developing countries rely on their own labor factors and natural resource advantages to be responsible for the processing and assembly of the low-end value chain. The pattern of income distribution has changed due to the different added value in different production links and the difference in the intensity of the factors used. The changes in the income distribution structure caused by the value chain division of labor triggered many scholars’ discussions. Some studies show that the proportion of labor income in countries at the low end of the value chain is significantly affected by the value chain division of labor. In fact, the change of income distribution structure caused by the difference between the embedding method and the location of the value chain may be different, and the change of some factors may also affect the original mechanism, leading to new changes in the income distribution structure. There are few relevant studies in the existing research. On the basis of participating in the research on the income distribution effect of the global value chain, this paper further theoretically analyzes the impact of institutional quality on this effect, and uses UIBE,WB and ICRG databases to prove through the empirical data between countries from 2004 to 2018 that:(1)The changes in income distribution structure caused by the differences in embedding methods and the location of the value chain are different;(2)The system quality plays a regulatory role in the income distribution effect of the global value chain. The specific role is that the improvement of the system quality inhibits the negative impact of the forward participation depth of the global value chain on the income distribution structure.Among them, the regulation of institutional quality on the positive effect of backward participation depth on income distribution structure is not obvious. However, the improvement of institutional quality has deepened the deterioration of the income distribution structure for the economies in the rising value chain.(3)Further explore the income effect of the global value chain division on different skilled labor, and find that the value chain division mainly acts on the income of low skilled labor, and the system quality inhibits the negative effect of forward participation in the value chain division on the income distribution structure, which is mainly reflected in the promotion of the share of low skilled labor. |
