Research On The Characteristics Of Alxa Yurts Based On Dimension Theory

The traditional yurt is a unique architectural form,which is the crystallization of ethnic culture optimized by the northern nomads in order to meet their own living needs in the harsh natural environment of the Mongolian plateau.The nomadic life and order solidified into a visual form in the way of ethnic decorative art,which not only beautifies life and transmits information,but also has the aesthetic consciousness of expressing spiritual needs,emotional needs and material needs.Yurts contain the spirit of nomads,their own building skills and materials of multiple cultural ideas.However,with the changes of The Times,the production and life style of herdsmen have undergone great changes,and the inherent ontologies of yurts have gradually weakened on the grassland.In the new era,effective protection of non-inherited items and enhancement of inheritance vitality are important ways to continue the historical context and enhance cultural self-confidence.From 2020 to 2022,the research group conducted field investigations and museum visits in Alxa,and interviewed local experts and scholars,intangible heritage inheritors,yurt manufacturers,government officials and herdsmen through oral history to collect and integrate cultural resources in Alxa.It has collected rich first-hand information for the study of yurts in Alxa area.The traditional yurts in Alxa area are taken as the research object.First,taking the dimension theory as the starting point,the concept of material dimension,spiritual dimension and skill dimension of yurts is discussed.Second,the paper analyzes the different functions of yurts in different periods,and summarizes the structural evolution,actual functions and spatial layout of traditional yurts in Alxa region.Third,taking the natural environment of Mongolian life and ethnic history as the clue,the formation mechanism of spiritual belief in Alxa region is deeply discussed.Fourthly,based on oral history,field survey and mapping,this paper aims to restore the size of traditional yurts in Alxa,the connection organization pattern between the monomers,and the characteristics of local yurts’ materials and sizes.The aim of this paper is to achieve the following goals: the realization of structural form,multi-function and space sharing in the material dimension of traditional yurts;The characteristics of totem worship,nature worship and folk etiquette in the spirit dimension of traditional yurts;In the traditional yurt technique dimension,the structure diagram,the connecting organization of each part and the construction of the whole technique are constructed.Under the environment of modern multi-cultural impact,it is indispensable to study the multi-dimensional attributes of traditional yurt architecture and its traditional culture,which is conducive to in-depth exploration of the cultural particularity of yurts in Alxa region,inheritance of the ethnic architectural culture represented by yurts,and promotion of the construction and protection of yurts with regional characteristics.
