In recent years, dramatic changes in the environment and the profound transformation of the socio-economic structure have posed challenges to the sustainable development of cities as social ecosystems, and multi-scale resilience improvement of social ecosystems has become an effective way to cope with future uncertainty and complexity. As the basic unit of urban governance and the daily life of urban residents, urban settlements play an important potential for action and learning in resilient spatial networks. In the context of resilience research,in order to more clearly express the network interaction and action effectiveness among urban settlement members, this paper adopts the term "community" to refer to settlements. Moreover, urban community resilience is regarded as an inherent property of communities that can self-organize and continuously learn in response to sudden shocks and disasters or long-term development trends, and enhance their adaptability to cope with uncertainty,so that communities as social ecosystems are in dynamic evolution and development.Based on the domestic and international literature review, this paper explores the conceptual definition and theoretical framework of urban community resilience, verifies the influencing factors and paths of urban community resilience through empirical tests, and then puts forward corresponding optimization strategies.First of all, based on the literature review and qualitative research, this paper explores the connotation and theoretical framework of urban community resilience, and summarizes the theoretical framework of urban community resilience into external pressure, the social ecosystem of communities, resilience performance and process,as well as outcome and cycle.Apart from that,a research hypothesis of the factors influencing urban community resilience is proposed based on the three dimensions of the social ecosystem of communities.Next, this paper, takes the sample of 182 residents from six districts of Tianjin as an example, adopts the structural equation model(SEM)to examine the influencing factors of urban community resilience through multi-source data collection and survey research. In that model, the dependent variable is the performance of the resilience level of urban communities and is further summarized into two factors,i.e.“network cohesion” and “dynamic development” by using Chinesized and optimized CART scale to assess the resilience level of sample communities;while the independent variable is the index system of influencing factors based on the social ecosystem of communities. After verification,it can be found that the influencing factors of urban community resilience include three dimensions of ecological environment subsystem, built environment subsystem and socio-economic subsystem with 17 index factors. The ecological environment subsystem, built environment subsystem and socio-economic subsystem all have a significant positive influence on the performance of the resilience level of urban communities and the two factors of “network cohesion” and “dynamic development”.At last, this paper proposes the optimization strategies of urban community resilience based on the empirical test results, and provides evaluation and optimization guidance for the sample communities in Tianjin to improve their resilience level. |
