The Xi’an Beiyuanmen Historical and Cultural District is located in the Mingcheng District of Xi’an,and is a Hui ethnic community. From the end of the Tang Dynasty to the present,it has continued the traditional commercial and residential form of "living in front of the store and living in the back, and living in the lower store" and the spatial pattern of "living around the temple",which has unique humanistic and historical value, and presents the basic characteristics of the evolution of Urban morphology of self succession and development. With the development of the urban economy and population in Xi’an,as well as the implementation of historical and cultural city strategies and planning concepts, the old spaces within the Ming urban area of Xi’an are constantly facing new development and opportunities, while also facing unprecedented challenges and threats. The cultural dissemination of the city and the cultural and religious attributes of the Huifang area have brought a significant amount of pedestrian flow within the area. The full period of pedestrian flow and spatial demand have led to the manifestation of the self driving force of spatial form evolution, resulting in the functional replacement of residential spaces,self-organized expansion and reconstruction of local residents, and the collage of spatial form styles. Some residential areas have undergone leapfrog renewal and development, and have once again undergone short-term selforganized transformation,The evolution of space has led to the loss of traditional spatial culture and material heritage, which is also attacking the intangible heritage within the area. How to balance the cultural context and development of residential spaces in historical areas has become an important research direction both now and in the future.Due to the lack of basic data, the research is floating above ideology and past experience, resulting in difficulties or detachment from the historical and geographical dimensions in the renewal and development of existing residential areas in urban centers. This paper uses the urban morphology research method, through the research on the morphological evolution of Jianhua Lane,a historical and cultural block in Beiyuanmen,in different periods after the founding of the People’s Republic of China, summarizes the characteristics and laws of its spatial morphological evolution after the founding of the People’s Republic of China, explores the evolution path followed by the evolution of residential space, summarizes the influencing factors of spatial morphological evolution, and seeks the relationship between the evolution of Urban morphology and the changes of residents’ living forms and social life organization patterns,Furthermore,it lays the foundation for research on corresponding protection and development strategies. This article is mainly divided into four parts:The first part is the introduction and theoretical research. This section mainly starts from the research background, purpose, and significance, confirms the necessity and urgency of the research, sorts out and summarizes the relevant research on the form of residential space, and also organizes the relevant research in the research area.Based on this, analyzes the current problems and research gaps in the area, and finally determines the research methods and technical route. The second part is an overview of the research area, mainly including a summary of the characteristics of the spatial basement within the area and historical research.Explore the development process within the area and determine the time and spatial scope of the study based on the temporal evolution characteristics of the area.Preliminary research and overall analysis were conducted on the area, starting from two aspects: residential space and residential life. Finally, the spatial forms of synchronicity were classified into types. The third part is a detailed study and analysis of the spatial form of courtyards, which is also the core and focus of this study. The third part includes the content of the fourth, fifth, and sixth chapters, which are divided into time periods. Each time period is divided into different types of courtyard space, and the characteristics of each stage are summarized. The following sections select different types of typical courtyards for detailed analysis and research, and finally summarize the diachronic characteristics of courtyard space. The fourth part includes a summary and conclusion of the spatial form, which is the conclusion of this study. The conclusion starts from the diachronic residential form, including an overview of the evolution characteristics of residential life and a summary of the evolution characteristics of residential space.Based on the above characteristics, the evolution path followed by the spatial evolution of the area is explored, and the reasons for its evolution are studied and analyzed. Finally, the spatial form of the area is summarized, and corresponding update suggestions are proposed to address the problems. |
