Study On The Influence Of Plant Landscape Space On Population Use Behavior In Urban Mountain Parks

As an important component of urban mountain parks,plant landscape space is the main place used by crowds,and different types of plant landscape space have different behavioral activities of crowds.Therefore,it is important to study the influence of plant landscape space on people’s use behavior in urban mountain parks to build a suitable urban mountain park for people’s use.Taking Changsha Xiufeng Mountain Park as the research object,we investigate the landscape environment,plant community and temporal plant landscape,select five types of plant landscape space samples in the park,and obtain the characteristics of plant landscape space and space use in the samples.The correlation between plant landscape space and crowd using behavior was analyzed,and the preferences of plant landscape space characteristics of crowd using behavior were obtained.To summarize the strategies for creating plant landscape space in urban mountain parks to meet the use behavior of various groups of people,and to provide reference for the construction of urban mountain parks.The following conclusions are obtained:(1)The distribution of crowds in the plant landscape space will be influenced by the topography,and the crowds will be distributed in the low elevation,near the main entrance space with higher accessibility,and will be distributed in different spaces according to the changes of wind direction and solar irradiation,and the unique landscape arrangement and space shaping in the next plant landscape space will attract the crowds.Space floor area,openness,shape factor and length from the entrance/exit have significant correlation with the number of crowd.The larger the floor area of the space,the closer to the main entrance,the simpler the shape of the space boundary and the higher the openness,the more the space is liked by the crowd and the number of users is higher.(2)The category of the crowd using the same type of planted landscape space will differ depending on the landscape elements,services and facilities.Different age levels will influence each other.Children’s behavioral activities are easily influenced by youth and need to be accompanied by parents;elderly people’s activities are influenced by youth and middle-aged groups,who like to gather and chat and will choose spaces that are lively,i.e.,used with high frequency.Different age groups have different needs for plant landscape space elements.Children tend to prefer spaces with greater openness,simple space shapes and shorter lengths from the entrance/exit walkway.Young people tend to prefer spaces with greater openness,simple space shapes and obvious seasonal changes.Middle-aged people and the elderly tend to prefer spaces with larger bottom areas,lower tree layer coverage and shorter lengths from the entrance/exit walkway.(3)The main use behavior in the plant landscape space will change according to the time period.The number of crowd activities on weekends will be significantly higher than that on weekdays,except for other use behaviors in the sports and fitness category.The distribution of crowd using behavior will change due to the difference of demand.(4)Different types of use behavior have different needs for plant landscape spatial elements.Sitting and relaxing behavior and recreation behavior are significant and influence each other.Sports and fitness behaviors tend to prefer spaces with low tree coverage;sitting and resting behaviors tend to prefer spaces with large bottom area,high openness,simple spatial boundary shapes and short lengths from the entrance/exit trails;leisure and recreation behaviors tend to prefer spaces with high openness and simple spatial boundary shapes;touring and passing behaviors tend to prefer spaces with small paved areas and richer plant species away from the entrance/exit.Four strategies are proposed for the creation of plant landscape space in urban mountain parks based on the use behavior of people: using mountain topography to create different types of characteristic spaces;serving various types of use behavior according to the site properties;considering the temporal change of space to meet different needs.And according to the creation strategy,the optimization suggestions are made for the problematic plant landscape spaces in Xiufeng Mountain Park.
