| China’s housing industry is at a critical stage of change from quantitative demand to both quantitative and qualitative demand. While people are paying more and more attention to basic security, they are more concerned about the quality of life and the comfort experience of residents for most low and middle income families.Especially in first-tier cities and mega-cities,due to the large population and the small amount of land available for construction,it is difficult to meet the different living needs of the small and medium-sized homes they live in due to the high cost of living and the difficulty in replacing their homes. How to make small and medium-sized houses both suitable and adaptable,so that the limited area can adapt to the changes in different living needs and can better adapt to the changing building environment is the main research problem of this paper. This paper discusses the spatial and environmental adaptability of small and medium-sized houses in the context of the concept of intelligent architecture, mainly in Beijing.By analysing the needs for adaptability of small and medium-sized houses and applying relevant smart building technologies such as Artificial Intelligence(AI),Internet of Things(Io T)and Virtual Reality(VR),the paper explores two aspects of improving the adaptability of small and medium-sized houses, namely spatial adaptability design strategies and environmental adaptability design strategies. This paper firstly outlines the four aspects of the development of smart architecture, architecture and elements, technology system and application and practice in Chapter 2,and analyses the exploration and practice of adaptive design for residential space and the exploration and practice of adaptive design for the environment.Secondly,in Chapter 3,the influencing factors of residential adaptability are analysed.Through research and studies, various factors affecting residential adaptability are summarised, such as the different needs for living space brought about by changes in the life cycle of households and the various influences brought about by the natural environment on buildings, which provide the focus for the following research on adaptive design strategies.Based on the analysis of the problems, this paper addresses them in Chapters 4 and 5 through the study of architectural space adaptation design strategies for small and medium-sized houses and the study of architectural environment adaptation design strategies for small and medium-sized houses. From the perspective of spatial adaptation, the design strategies to improve the spatial adaptability of residential buildings are explored through the use of flexible elements such as intelligent electric partitions and intelligent furniture,as well as the use of BIM technology and virtual reality(VR)technology under the concept of intelligent architecture. As well as the design aspects of the building environment adaptability, the building site analysis, planning layout, floor plan design and fa?ade skin are discussed in the context of the smart building concept, and the use of big data platforms, artificial intelligence algorithms and Internet of Things(Io T)technologies are investigated in conjunction with the building design to improve the environmental adaptability of the housing. Finally,a mock residential building design exercise is conducted by applying the researched residential adaptive design strategies on a real site. The study explores the use of these design strategies to improve the adaptability of small and medium-sized homes to meet the changing needs of residents and to enhance the comfort of the living environment. |
