The application of phenomenology to architecture has brought renewed attention to the body, which is missing from the architectural experience. As architecture evolves,so does phenomenology, and the new phenomenology is a critical inheritance of the previous phenomenology, which uses its ontology to relate body, emotion, and space, which fits well with what architecture is concerned with.Memorial architecture is the type of architecture that expresses the strongest emotions, and the memorial and mourning spaces in memorial architecture usually push the emotions to the highest point, but how to realize such strong emotions in the architectural space? The introduction of new phenomenology provides a new way to express emotions in memorial and mourning spaces. This paper starts with the development of memorial and mourning spaces, defines them, analyzes the emotions, and identifies the existing problems. Then, starting from the core concept of New Phenomenology-the theory of contextual existence, through the concepts of context and incarnation, the theory of New Phenomenology is divided into three points: contextual co-construction,associative properties and movement implication, which are introduced into the practical design application of memorial and memorial spaces in architecture. From these three points, more design strategies affecting the emotion of space are developed, and finally, different types of emotions in memorial and memorial spaces are summarized with actual cases, and design techniques for different types of emotions are summarized, and the conclusions are used to support the actual design projects. The purpose of this paper doesn’t aim to criticize any theory but to transform the existing, innovative, and scattered knowledge into branches and leaves that can draw nutrients from the philosophical root of new phenomenology,so as to introduce the new phenomenology in architecture and the design of the memorial and mourning spaces. |
