| Because of their intangible and spiritual attributes, the value of cultural service products in urban park ecosystems depends on human perceptions. Therefore, exploring visitors’ perceptions and selection preferences of cultural service functions of urban park green space ecosystems is of key significance for the planning and management of urban parks and urban ecological environment improvement. At present, the parkland in the core of the capital city is mainly renewed from stock, and the provision of more efficient ecosystem cultural services in the limited parkland space has become an issue to be studied in the industry. This study aims to investigate visitors’ perceptions of urban park ecosystem cultural services and their influencing factors. The study uses social media data to quantitatively identify and analyze visitors’ perceptions of urban park ecosystem cultural services, which can better understand visitors’ perceptions and needs of urban parks and provide references for urban park planning and management. The study takes the urban parks in the core area of Beijing’s capital function as the research area, and 21 urban parks with representative characteristics and attributes are selected as the research objects.First, the study used web crawler technology to obtain social media comment data of these 21 urban parks from 2011 to 2021.Taking into account previous research results on the classification of cultural services in ecosystems and public perceptions of urban parks as shown by social media comment data,a cultural service type index system suitable for the characteristics of urban parks in the core area of Beijing’s capital city was constructed. The index system includes six categories, including aesthetic services, cultural heritage services, social relationship services, recreation services, inspiration and education services, and sports services, which can reflect the ecosystem cultural services of urban parks in a more comprehensive way.Second, this study used machine learning methods to construct a classification model of ecosystem cultural services in urban parks, which can determine the types of ecosystem cultural services perceived by visitors by analyzing social media comment data. The study explored the factors influencing the perception of ecosystem cultural services in urban parks and the differences in the perception of ecosystem cultural services in urban parks by visitor groups through regression models. The analysis results obtained show that(1)park area is one of the most important factors influencing the perception of ecosystem cultural services, followed by the tourist attraction level and cultural preservation level of the park.Since land resources are tight in Beijing and parks with large areas are scarce, park area influences to a certain extent the amount and quality of ecosystem services provided by parks and visitors’ perceptions of ecosystem cultural services.(2)The gender of visitors and whether they were foreign visitors also had significant effects on the perception of ecosystem cultural services, with women perceiving ecosystem cultural services in parks more strongly than men,and foreign visitors perceiving ecosystem cultural services in Beijing’s core urban parks more strongly than local residents.(3)It was found that the normalized vegetation index(NDVI)was negatively correlated with visitors’ perceptions of some ecosystem cultural services in the core area of Beijing’s capital, which may be due to the fact that there are many historical gardens in the core area of Beijing’s capital and their garden design and vegetation distribution may be influenced by ancient royal aesthetic and cultural traditions, and the coverage of vegetation may not be a priority in landscape design, but needs to be balanced with other landscape elements such as architecture and water bodies. In response to the results of the above analysis, the article makes three suggestions for the enhancement of cultural services in urban park ecosystems.First, park managers should pay attention to public perceptions and needs and focus on services with lower perceptions in order to improve the quality of cultural services in park ecosystems.Second, focus on the perceived influencing conditions for targeted enhancement and optimization.Scientific investigation and analysis are needed to determine the degree of influence and relevance of various factors on public perception, and to take targeted enhancement and improvement. Finally,in response to regional characteristics and highlighting development advantages, the park’s historical, cultural and ecological environmental values are fully utilized to provide more unique and rich ecosystem cultural services, including the protection and inheritance of historical and cultural heritage, balancing other landscape elements, and developing diversified tourism products. These strategies are expected to improve the quality of ecosystem cultural services in urban parks and public satisfaction with parks, and promote sustainable urban development. |
