The complex mechanisms involved in the historical ties between industrial heritage and the city, the diversity of historical heritage, spiritual culture, spatial form and the people who use it make it difficult to meet expectations for the conservation and regeneration of industrial heritage. How to gradually guide the process of industrial heritage conservation and regeneration with small and controlled interventions, and to stimulate organic construction in line with local development, are the opportunities and challenges of urban regeneration nowadays. To address the above background, the thesis focuses on the conservation and regeneration strategy of industrial heritage based on the catalyst theory.Firstly,it outlines the basic research on catalytic theory and industrial heritage conservation and regeneration, explains the mutually complementary mechanisms of the two from the conceptual level, and combines them with examples to support their compatibility. The thesis also outlines the implementation path for the conservation and renewal of industrial heritage based on the catalyst theory. Finally, the thesis discusses the implementation strategy for the conservation and regeneration of the Fangzi Station area of the Jiaoji Railway. From the investigation of the catalytic elements using a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods, the catalytic potential of the area is explored, and finally a conservation and regeneration strategy based on the catalytic theory for the Fangzi Station area of the Jiaoji Railway is proposed in an appropriate manner. It provides a feasible idea for the organic regeneration of the industrial heritage of the Jiaoji Railway’s Fangzi Station area.
