As the pioneer,leading and supporting force of the "quality revolution" in higher education,the construction of "new engineering" is not only a process of enriching content and improving quality,but also an innovation process of talent training mode.Its construction and development must not only highlight China Characteristics,it is necessary to extensively learn the experience of international engineering education reform.However,our country has long tended to learn from some developed countries,such as the United States,Germany,France,Australia and Japan,and has low attention to engineering education in other countries.As one of Europe’s most powerful economies,the Netherlands has the highest level of higher education in the world.This article analyzes the talent training model of engineering education in three research universities in the Netherlands,and systematically presents the overall characteristics of the talent training model of higher engineering education in the Netherlands,hoping to provide experience and inspiration for the training of new engineering talents in our country.Under the guidance of the theory of knowledge production model3,big-engineering view and practical community,this study analyzes the five dimensions of the training objectives,professional settings,curriculum system,teaching methods and supporting conditions of the three institutions.As the internal and external environment changes,the Dutch higher engineering education is constantly changing to explore the training model for engineers in the new era.Through in-depth comparison and analysis of the individuality and commonalities of the talent training models of the three universities,it is revealed that the training of engineering education talents in Dutch research universities has the following general characteristics: the first is to clarify the positioning of talent training and cultivate T-type professionals;the second is to emphasize professional education and the development of students’ engineering ability;the third is to return to engineering education to experience the real engineering environment;the fourth is to return to the essence of university education by taking students as the center;fifth,pay attention to the innovation of teaching environment and promote the improvement of teaching quality.Finally,based on the experience of Dutch research universities,it is proposed that China’s “new engineering” talent training should be promoted from the following aspects: focus on demand-establish a compound talent training goal that meets social needs;focus on system-adjust majors structure from top-level design,and reshape the course content with the idea of system integration,integrate engineering ethics education into professional courses,and strengthen general education;focus on practice-build a multilevel and multiple types project practice teaching system,strengthen the construction of experimental facilities and equipment,and improve Collaborative education mechanism and strengthen engineering design education;emphasis on innovation-cultivating students’ innovative ability,and supporting teachers’ teaching innovation ability.
